@jimbarrero Hi, Jim. I'm quite tardy (don't hit the platform with any regularity), but will join your many fans in wishing you the best. Reflect, with great pride, on all you have accomplished. Then, keep fighting.
Speed and power development requires several minutes of rest between efforts to achieve the kind of outputs that elicit adaptation. Our coaching decisions must reflect this. https://t.co/wIHCI1199m via @SimpliFaster
📈Tuesday: We had a Great practice. I got excited and kept calling plays. Too many reps. Too much, too fast.
📉Wednesday: We were sluggish. I heard myself yell, "more effort!" But, my guys were worn out.
🗓️Thursday: I need to take ownership for letting Tuesday ruin Wednesday.
Even though basketball is mostly ACC and COD, there are still major global benefits from training at top speed. Increasing top speed also affects the entire acceleration profile and all sub-maximal intensities of running.
It is my hope that this article gets shared a million times. The old school conditioning done in football is not only misguided, it’s stupid and it’s dangerous. I dedicate this article to Rashidi Wheeler and Jordan McNair, RIP. https://t.co/QxQKOv87yt
You can’t emphasize everything. With too many priorities, we drown in shallow water. Monday I published part-one of my 3-part series, “Big Cats (Not Hogs)”. Here’s part-two.
⬆️ ➕ ⬆️ = ⬆️⬆️

You're not developing "point guard skills" by dribbling in a straight line with no defender. Even if you use multiple balls, ladders, cones, blindfolds, eye goggles are whatever else makes it harder. Hard ≠ Complex.
When I coached basketball in the 80’s I would always quote @DickieV, “The three E’s: Energy, Enthusiam, and Excitement” which are now pillars of #FeedTheCats. What I didn’t understand 30 years ago, minimum dose & prioritized rest are prerequisites of the “Three E’s”.
@brianmccormick Sometimes I feel like I’m watching a Globetrotters “how-to.” Like I tell my kids—I get calls from college coaches every day. Know what they ask? How’s the one dribble and 2 dribble pull-up? Can he/she read a close out? Do they defend? Are they in shape? Play hard?
If your off-season workouts are only designed to see how "tough" you can make your athletes, then you are missing an important time that could have been spent making them faster and more explosive. Tired athletes don't get faster or more explosive....they get tired.
I was asked by @StuartMcMillan1 to write a “Feed the Cats” article for the ALTIS Essentials Course, https://t.co/t2wkXmPWNH. The price is currently $99, goes up to $149 in June. Check it out! https://t.co/HacwcT7YLP
Don't confuse being loud and confident with being proficient or correct, and don't confuse being quiet with not having the answers. Many brazen coaches are idiots, and many bright folks I know are very reserved. Just b/c someone has a megaphone doesn't mean you have to listen.
Kids careers r cut short because kids don’t play enough pick up ball today! They want everything to be w/ a trainer r in a tourney! Learn to play w/ out a script! Best way to figure it out!! Kids r sold a lotta of lip smacking party line BS! Just play!
If “we always grinding” means constantly taking selfies with your clients/athletes saying “we always grinding”, are you really?... Thought of the day...
How does the inclusion of a defender when practicing basketball shooting affect skill?
• lower accuracy
• changes to jump time
• changes to ball flight
