@KQEDForum@thereadystate@julietstarrett Sitting down cross-legged, squating, short walk after a meal are part of Indian culture, of day-to-day activities around the house, kitchen, (and bathroom!), but getting challenging as life modernizes. Plausible secrets of my grand/parents' good health🙏
@KQEDForum@thereadystate@julietstarrett Applesauce?🤔 From India, familiar with sitting down cross-legged, but what is criss-cross "applesauce"? Love the rhyme😊, but unaware of cultural reference
@KQEDForum@PoojaLakshmin Sounds we should talk in our friends & circles about what's _your_ self-care. Everyone's different and their deep self-care is different. Sharing and listening better, questioning and personalizing necessary.
@KQEDForum@mrMattSimon You can start reducing your plastic TODAY! Start carrying reusable containers to restaurants, keep-warm mugs to coffee shops, brown paper bags to farmers' markets, and a fork, knife & spoon always in your bag! And use that water bottle you got as swag!
@KQEDForum@RachelFeintzeig@BrigidSchulte@TheaMonyee Shout-out to BCCO - Berkeley Community Chorus & Orchestra - for *music making* than *playing music perfectly* Open for ALL singers Performs big, beautiful choral works, What a joy to sing!
@KQEDForum@RachelFeintzeig@BrigidSchulte@TheaMonyee My gym had a 2022 New Year challenge to run 22 miles in Jan 2022. In a month! Total 22. Not even a marathon! It fit me perfectly as I had just started running (for the Nth time). Stuck to it and now I run 5 + 3 miles happily every week😊
@KQEDForum@RachelFeintzeig@BrigidSchulte@TheaMonyee I try to be perfectly happy being bad at *meditation*. Doing that *daily* with *friends* since the pandemic start in Apr 2020. Good/bad is at my conscious level. Meditation is restructuring my unconscious, physical like water transforms earth.
I discovered my love and taste for Western Classical music by tuning in to #KDFC over the air and app for free. So only makes sense to *pay forward* for everyone to experience the same. ♥️Sacret Concert, err, Joyful Noise♥️ // #give to https://t.co/xeXdKagvez @ClassicalKDFC
@KQEDForum@edyong209 The premise of The Matrix is if you fake all sensory inputs, you are in virtual reality that you can't tell apart from the "real" reality. (Probably) that's not been done with humans yet. Has it been done with simpler animals?
@KQEDForum@profbk Scott Shafer, Prof. Taylor and Mr Williams speaking serious, illuminating stuff! Love to hear🙂 Also, let's talk about food😋 I hear Juneteenth is a big feast with friends and family. What are some delectable recipes you enjoy & we should make without cultural misappropriation?
@KQEDForum@profbk Lived in Berkeley for 13 years, but did not know about Berkeley Juneteenth. Sang with classical chorus and they're mostly white folks. Never thought of going to the Pride Parade, as I wasn't open with my queerness! What should we do to break such silos, and be better allies?
@KQEDForum@theluketsai@SwantonBerry Took my family from India on a CA tour. Asked all my farmers' market vendors where they are and if they take visitors. Apple Hill, Placerville (only one farm, Boa Vista, open right now), Oakdale Cheese Factory, Orange groves east of Fresno, Thor's blueberries in Hanford CA.
@KQED, please point me to the Pledge-Free Stream! Didn't know one- time doesn't qualify for PFS. Signed up for $10/mo this morning on top of one-time $144 in Dec 2021! Happy to do it👍 Been an hour, still no PFS link in the email or PFS trophy in the KQED app🙁 Plz make it easy🙏
@KQEDForum Q: Can you speak to how JWST is designed for unknown, unexpected scenarios in the hardware and software? Earthly gadgets get by with "try again", "unknown error", "restart your device", etc.😀
... How the worms compost! No smell, no rotting, no fungi, no fruit flies, no other scaries. They take care of those. I attend to them once a week. Worms and I live happily in our apartment (they in their sub-apartment i.e. the container; they don't go out).
@KQEDForum, Creed asks: Who's your worm guy?😂 Red wiggler worms are magic machines!!🐛🤖 I got some from a guy in Berkeley, a container from a friend, a tray from Goodwill, and those worms have been eating my fruit/veggie scraps/spoils all year! Turning it into black gold!! ...
I was reminded this week, because I found the second INSPIRATIONAL, pick-me-up musical performance. This is Bach double piano concerto played by Buniatişvili sisters. 2/2

I was reminded that 18 years ago I found one musical performance to be INSPIRATIONAL, pick-me-up, like “oh my god, what just happened! such thing can be done! carefully honed expertise sets you free to rocket-launch like this!” That was Joy by Shakti. 1/2
