In the early days of arcades, this style of action game was everywhere. Shinobi was practically the textbook example. Back then, whenever a certain style became popular, countless games would copy the formula and simply swap the theme or characters.

Even so, Shinobi stood out. Its screen-clearing ninja magic and close-range attacks gave it plenty of personality, especially for a game released in 1987. But the random appearance of Spider-Man in Stage 2 still feels completely out of place. 🤣
