@librarian_elle I bought felt to put under it so it didn’t make so much noise. Also, Bananagrams has a great following. UNO as well, but that game gets a bit rowdy. Puzzles are great & promote conversation. I love seeing students interacting & not on their phones.
I’d read an essay on male and female monologues in cinema.
I have a theory that because misogyny is real, the female monologue is an inherently more assertive act.
As in: it’s common to hear a man roar.
But, then you hear Julia Fiona Roberts.

@Anniekidder @ONLibraryAssoc Having supportive administrators makes a huge difference in library staffing and budget decisions. Perhaps continue to put out studies on the correlation between staffed libraries and student success, as well as speak directly to principals regarding their importance.

@strombo Agree-especially after reading Democracy in Chains, Dark Money, and Raising Them Right. If you don’t know who is pulling the strings in US politics, read any or all of those.
I meet and talk to so many people who believe that ALL school librarians do is check out books and put them back once kids return them. Here is just SOME of what they ACTUALLY do. And not on this list: foster a lifelong love of reading. And what could be more important than that?

Teaching young people about sexual health, control over their own bodies & healthy relationships is essential to democracy.
During his speech, Holland stressed the importance of taking stigma out of talking about sex & sexuality and for people to start openly talking about the importance of pleasure in sex.
Societal norms should be challenged to stop shaming people for consensual sexual experiences.
