Interesting of Liz Truss to claim that neither Nicola Sturgeon nor Mark Drakeford understand the British people, given they have won 7 elections between them
Stockholm is a great example of everything Welsh cities should be. Full of 5-15 floor buildings that also look nice. Lots of regular and well maintained trams, buses and metros that can exist because the city is dense. An economy doing well because of agglomeration.
@Joe___Allen + the NE which is already more productive than the UK average. 2 high-density growth zones with additional density along transport lines. 2/3 of the country either dedicated to growth or connected to growth. The only way Wales gets rich, but no party yet ready to go all in.
A ~7/10 outcome relative to where #COP28 could’ve realistically landed:
✅Text mentions tripling renewables by 2030, “transitioning away” from fossil fuels in energy systems, net zero by 2050
❎Agreement only “calls on” countries to “contribute” to these outcomes
A sense of action in the first few days of #COP28. But majority of outcomes so far have been voluntary pledges. Important bit is the negotiated outcomes - in particular the GST and future of fossil fuels. That part is only just getting underway.
118 countries have agreed to triple installed global renewable energy generation capacity to at least 11,000 gigawatts and to double the annual global average rate of energy efficiency improvements from ~2 percent to more than 4 percent every year until 2030.

A fresh morning in Dubai for Day 2 of #COP28. Yesterday was a good day for the hosts and optimism is more abundant than it was 48 hours ago. Will be interesting to see if the mood is any different after a day of speeches by world leaders.
@TeleriGlynJones@LauraMcAllister Closed lists come with disadvantages, but they address this issue by giving voters a more straightforward choice between a list of parties.
@TeleriGlynJones@LauraMcAllister The point is fair but needs context. The Welsh Govt wants 16 constituencies electing 6 members each. In an open list system, voters would be given a ballot paper with up to 6 candidates from every party. This could lead to ballot papers listing over 30 or even 40 candidates.

@RedfieldWilton Results for how the model thinks the latest @RedfieldWilton Senedd poll would look under the new electoral system below. Plaid recovering since July and Labour back below the majority threshold:
Lab: 44 (-7)
Con: 21 (-1)
Plaid: 21 (+3)
Lib Dem: 4 (+1)
Green: 0 (-)
Ref: 6 (+4)
@cathy_owens I think you’re right that it will be about 10%. I’ve been trying to model the new system using Redfield’s monthly polling data and find that parties rarely win a seat until they cross that threshold

I’ve updated the Senedd election model to reflect the revised boundaries and applied it to this month’s @RedfieldWilton poll. First time it’s predicted a Labour majority:
Lab: 51 (+7)
Con: 22 (-4)
Plaid: 18 (-2)
Lib Dem: 3 (-)
Green: 0 (-)
