Last month, thousands of Black people applied for the first round of the Open Road Fund, which is redistributing $50 million to descendants of enslaved African people in MN, SD and ND.
In a nation founded on and steeped in extractive, racialized capitalism, Nexus Community Partners knew that superficial and white-dominant definitions of โwealthโ couldnโt capture the profound offerings of Black history, culture, and vision.
This work, which will be led by @drjoilewis and @drbrittanylewis, was spurred by the murder of George Floyd at the hands of the Minneapolis Police Department. We see this process as an opportunity to radically re-imagine what is possible in our efforts to advance racial justice.
