@tucker_peck (I've been dealing with post-viral illness since 2019, with a different symptom profile than you but overall probably more disabled, and most of my interest in meditation comes from thinking it could help with either recovery or dealing with symptoms.)
@tucker_peck I would be interested to hear how meditation interacts with long covid (eg does it help to deal with symptoms and if so how). I found "if there weren’t any hope for improvement, I would not have wanted to keep going" surprising given what eg Shinzen Young says about equanimity.
@QiaochuYuan So I think David Eppstein reverted your edit partly because he thought his version was conceptually simpler (it doesn't mislead people into thinking the stack has no duplicates).
@QiaochuYuan But as other people have said, both left and right versions are correct, and the David Eppstein blog post is about a different issue (visit when you push vs visit when you pop; both of the Wikipedia versions visit when you pop).
@basedbanana2 @QiaochuYuan Your first bullet sounds a lot like me (I am very underweight and each meal takes like 4-5 hours to complete). What kind of meditation did you do/do you have a recommended guide to follow?
@alexandrite113 Do you know if it was the GCMAF itself, the potentially other probiotics in the yogurt, or the mold that made you severe? I've read all of your GCMAF tweets and can't figure out which one you think was the decisive factor.
@the_wilderless @lucky_nole What are the actual interventions? Which parts of the treatment do you think matter the most? (I know Ayurveda is supposed to highly personalized, but I am still interested in hearing what personally worked for you.)
@impromptuvision@Aron_Adler Do the eastern texts frame it in terms of CO2 intolerance/hypocapnia, and have Control Pause as a measure of progress? To me it seems like Buteyko did add a bunch of insights, even if the basic techniques were known prior to him.
@MchP66592467 Another reason (besides being angry requiring a lot of energy) is that anger doesn't really work in this situation. The supportive people are already supportive even without my anger, and the dismissive/psychologizing types will only use the anger as another excuse to not help.
@weidai11 I am surprised to hear you say this. Working at OpenAI and furthering its goals, lending it one's reputation, supporting its existence (by being there), etc., seems like a pretty sketchy thing to do. Not obviously net positive to me.
@NeleHelena Going to doctor appointments is already stressful, but having to fast for 4-5 hours total, and then be subject to maneuvers that intentionally exacerbate my symptoms seems like a recipe for a terrible time.
@ElianaUku On LinkedIn there was an option to put down "Career Break" (in place of a company name) with the reason being "Health and well-being" (in place of position title), which is what I've decided to do.
