@reetspetit For a lot of us, it comes down to respecting people's boundaries. Many of us aren't aware that our content is being taken elsewhere until someone points it out to us (e.g. the Columbia Journalism Review article that linked admins who had already blocked the author)

A lot of us on Mastodon are uncomfortable with our content being taken to other platforms – just because it's public doesn't mean it can go anywhere.

And you're right, he should talk to you directly if he hasn't already.

Final thought as I start backing up my bookmarks to get ready to leave:

Twitter has been many good things, and it's also not the only platform out there. Ultimately, I don't really admire anyone who decides to stay in an algorithm-driven disinfo cesspit because it's "easier".

Every type of software has some kind of learning curve, including Twitter. None of it will be easy, but it also won't be whatever the hell THIS is.

I don't care if our friends decide to stay.

I know what to do for my health.

I hope everyone else knows what to do, too.

The racism tends to be the biggest issue and one that communities need to continue working on.
