I prefer conversations that generate light, whereas X (formerly Twitter) has become a place that generates only heat. Musk's changes stink. I am part of the exodus from X, and am up for some blue-sky thinking: https://t.co/RzD37F4M5H
👷♀️👷♂️ We’re undertaking maintenance works on the A30.
🚧 The #A30 will be closed overnight (8pm–6am) between #Rawridge & #Honiton.
📅 From Mon 6 Jan until Fri 10 Jan. The road will be open as usual during the day.
➡️ A diversion will be in place via the A30, A358 & A35.
Ottery St Mary has been awarded £162,000 for improving open public spaces. Ottery Town Council is seeking ideas on how it can be best spent - https://t.co/RquaQQJ8G5
As we enter 2025, we do not know what the next twelve months will bring. We have challenges to face at home and abroad, and no doubt we will be subject to Macmillan's "events, dear boy". I would like to wish residents in Honiton & Sidmouth a peaceful and happy new year.
Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas. This year, I spent time with some incredible young carers, amazing young people who care for loved ones all year round.
Whether it was hearing their stories or recording a Christmas single together, these are moments I’ll never forget.
#Devon The Met Office have issued a yellow weather warning for wind between midnight and 9pm tomorrow (Sun), we are expecting to see low level impacts across the county. Please take care on the roads, expect tree debris and drive to the conditions. TD @StagecoachSW@BBCDevon
I have been contacted by dozens of women who were seriously wronged by government maladministration, which ultimately led to a huge group of pension-age women being unable to afford to retire. 1/2
The "chemist" provides invaluable support for residents in rural Devon. To protect our NHS from being overwhelmed, pharmacies need resources from government - the Tories added pressure to NHS Devon by allowing pharmacies in Axminster and Sidmouth to close.
I really enjoyed helping the Operation Rudolph team yesterday with fundraising in Honiton. Shoppers were very generous, and it's wonderful to know that each donation will help brighten someone's Christmas here.
A very merry #Christmas to everyone in Mid- and East #Devon.
Devon has the potential to be a model for rail transport. We are bucking the trend, so as to have increased passenger footfall. Cullompton Station and the Feniton passing loop would encourage even more people on to the trains.
Ofwat needs replacing, by a regulator with teeth. The successor regulator would need to make the water companies do right by their customers and our environment. 4/4 https://t.co/7RbmMtVpk9
Between 1990 and 2023, @SouthWestWater paid £3.2bn to shareholders; nearly £3,000 per household. Today, we learn that bills are set to rise by 23% by 2030, to an average of £610 per year. 1/4

When I met with SWW CEO Susan Davy recently, she talked about how water company bosses have been seeking to invest via bill rises. What about cutting dividends and executive pay? 3/4

Yesterday I met with Susan Davy, CEO with South West Water, to determine when the unacceptable volume of sewage being pumped into our rivers and sea will reduce/cease, and to request that SWW is more transparent on the monitoring of spills.
