@ImposeCost The there’s the moral injury cost of the various failures.
Why did he die for that village given back to the TB next month?
Why did we bail on that village?
Region?
Country?
People?
Why couldn’t we at least evacuate the ones that helped the most?
And on it goes
@UK_Daniel_Card@CISAgov Like you said “it depends” ad naseum
But if you’re trying to make it simple for “normies”…
Sure use @Bitwarden or some other p word manager (never last pass of course) but how to access that? How to guide its generation?
Hence my response
@UK_Daniel_Card@CISAgov it should be a passphrase with many words at least one upper case character and number and a symbol as word separator
And CISA should be bugging login app and website owners about this, not end users
@devil_n_details@Jayleo110@kaylahaas Seems likely to be less money back of envelope to me. Id reckon the Corps is paying the cost of leatherneck and bulldog. Adding a couple more companies to Bulldog vs running all of leatherneck likely saves money.
but im done w this
Nice chatting w ya. ✌️

@Jayleo110@devil_n_details@kaylahaas Any time we choose not to standardize a foundational qualifying event but to parallel it we should fo so only for a specific observe able and measurable benefit.
This doesnt have one.
It would be crazy to invent this out of whole cloth from a clean slate so, we should unmake it
@Jayleo110@devil_n_details@kaylahaas I'm not surprised, its costs are unlikely to be felt by you.
Many USNA grad Officers are great, as Ive detailed elsewhere in this meandering debate.
And they would not be made any worse having been standardized into the same course.
@Jayleo110@devil_n_details@kaylahaas But the cultural costs of keeping USNA separate in leatherneck 4 weeks vice bulldog 6, and then classing up in bulk by themselves at TBS under-integrates the Officer Corps to no real benefit to the Corps itself - though maybe to the USNA and its grads (though I still think not)
@Jayleo110@devil_n_details@kaylahaas *sigh.
No my dear Naval Service blue side friend I think YOU are missing the point here.
After much discussion, mostly with USNA grads, Kayla made the best argument I've heard for it remaining as is here.

@richardiporter@tyrjo12 Honestly, don’t think the Corps benefits (or loses) from USNA mids attending Leatherneck vs. Bulldog. I see it as net zero (ish).
USNA can keep its summer rotation logistics and continue to provide the Corps a percentage of newly commissioned Lieutenants.
@Jayleo110@devil_n_details@kaylahaas And my contention is that is a historical inertia based mistake. Everyone (except USNA itself and maybe those USNA mids that want to hedge bets w BUDS or take more leave) would benefit from slotting USNA into the 6 week bulldog package with MECEP and NROTC mids. 😀
@SpencrGreenberg@USMC enhancing the brains ability to function without it (like a map creating a mental map) vs a type of tech that undermines it (like turn by turn GPS) and the other example given the abacus vs calculator?
Super fun topic.
@SpencrGreenberg@USMC When we end up in a new location many of us feel literally disoriented until we can locate north, then it starts to snap the mental map to the landmarks to the cardinal.
Also - on this topic, cant recall where I heard it maybe on your pod? The concept of some tech...
