My ambition for my unborn kids is that they will attend a university in Nigeria that is at par with its contemporaries in Asia and Europe.

Spending £15,000/year to send them to a mid-ranked UK university for their Bachelors degree (like my parents did for me) is actually NOT a flex, but an indictment on the country we come from.

The smartest and most privileged Chinese and Indian students do their 1st degrees in China and India. If they have to go abroad, they're going to Oxford, Cambridge, Harvard, MIT, Princeton, etc, not Hull, Sheffield, Southampton, and Keele.

The ones who go to that 2nd group are actually viewed as lower tier candidates back home. But in Nigeria, saying you did your first degree at the University of Bradford is supposed to be some kind of flex.

Shows just how psychologically poor and empty we are as a society.
