The Iran war has become dark comedy.
Trump is now backing down:
“Fine. Reopen Hormuz, restore the status quo, and I’ll even walk away without a nuclear deal. Can we just end this?”
Iran’s answer:
“No. We don’t trust you. You bombed the country, broke the June agreement, froze our assets and sanctioned our exports. Pay, lift the sanctions, unfreeze the money and pull back first.”
Hormuz is no longer just a strait.
It is Iran’s security deposit against Trump changing his mind again.
He went to war to force Tehran into submission.
Now Tehran is holding the exit door and asking for the bill to be settled first.
Six months of war, no nuclear deal, and the side that was supposed to surrender is negotiating the terms of America’s departure.
Remarkable.
Trump wanted regime leverage.
Iran ended up holding the checkout receipt. 😂
Guys, Amazon paid $8.5 billion for MGM specifically for the Bond franchise. They’re not going to ruin it with “wokism.” That would be like paying $1 billion for Lord of the Rings and then making a WB-style show of Sauron Dating Galadriel. Not happening.
Biggest issue: If you're being drafted, people are saying "we want you around for 4 years" & I can't imagine anybody wants Enes Kanter or Royce White around them for even 4 minutes.
We've seen this illustrated whenever Enes is near Turkey or Royce comes close to logic/reality.
NEW: New Yorkers have started a trend of tagging Mayor Zohran Mamdani to report problems around the city and the fixes are happening so quickly that the videos are going viral.
A dangerous playground hazard was repaired after a resident wrote a letter. A pothole was filled the same day it was posted online. And ahead of this week’s heat wave, the city installed temporary water fountains in Prospect Park.
The message from City Hall: no problem is too small to fix.
Most people if they had a time machine would go back and kill baby Hitler but I would go back to 2006 New York and do everything in my power to get on the cash cab
@DragonflyJonez This is the downside of KD being so deep in his mentions. Surely someone said that despite everyone else laughing, but that's the response he fixates on
(DMing girl) Life is so randommm it's like.. Whyyyyyy Lol. (logging into Albert Einstein role playing account) (DMing same girl) Life makes perfect since
The reason you’re unhappy is that you haven’t found the right thing to buy. There’s something out there you can purchase that will make this all go away
There are two views about the future of AI. There are the people who think that you can control technological progress, centrally plan it, channel it down narrow pathways, decide who will get a say in it.
This was Yudkowsky’s insane fever dream. This is impossible. It was always impossible. There was never any possibility of it happening. There are eight billion people on this planet, and they will do what they want, not what you want. Utopia is not an option, it was never an option, but you can cause an incredible amount of damage trying to achieve it.
Then there are the people who accept that you cannot perfectly predict the future, that you cannot centrally plan the future, that there will be many players in any technological revolution, that mistakes will be made, that mistakes will be compensated for, that people will figure things out as they go along, that mostly things will be okay, that there is no other realistic pathway. We will muddle through as always, doing our best in an imperfect world, and it will be fine. (Indeed, it will be better than fine.)
You can dislike this second viewpoint, or you can embrace it, and it doesn’t make any difference, because it’s the only way that anything ever happens. The universe doesn’t care what you prefer. Accept it, or don’t accept it, it will do what it’s going to do whether you want it or not.
