Enjoyed the pod. I generally subscribe to the idea that @travisk mentioned that basically Elon is always right. But, I can’t reconcile one thing in particular with the America Party. Elon explains that it’s the party for the 80% in the middle. I believe the #1 issue he’s highlighted (and rightly so) is the spending/deficit/debt. But, the 80% in the middle clearly does not want reduced spending. In fact, they seem hyper against any reduction, and they vote accordingly with their house votes. There is no evidence of the 80% in the middle wanting reduced spending.

Don’t do it, but if you do, promise one thing-

If your party results in a historic landslide for the dems in the midterms (and it very obviously will), then disband at that point, because you will have set back every single priority of the America Party. And I would think supporters of the America Party would not want to set back every single one of their priorities, right?

I believe in your reasons to start the America Party and believe that you deeply love this country. But, if you want to know why NOT to start the America Party, ask @RandPaul and @RepThomasMassie . They are libertarians but they run as republicans because they have much more influence that way.

Much better play would be to say,

“I will support republican candidates (with $) if and only if they are fully committed to cutting spending/balancing the budget.”

You could steer the Republican Party in this way (and maintain the love and avoid the infighting). Any other way will surely steer elections toward democrats/communists, hastening our demise.

Huge Elon fan here but it seems extremely obvious that this will hand Dems the mid-terms and most elections going forward from this point. The main problem is that people don’t actually want to cut spending. If they did, they would vote for people in the house that do that, but they don’t. It seems energy would be much better spent convincing the public of why the debt matters, not splintering off a tiny group of elected officials, and thereby handing all elections to the commies.
