I wish my younger self could learn more about:
1| Critical thinking
2| Problem solving, and
3| Staying positive in the face of failure.
What would you say to your younger-self?
Jika dibandingkan waktu demo tahun lalu.
Rakyat dibungkam bahkan sebelum sempat bicara. Ini bener2 ngeri sih.
Gimana? Udah berasa hawa orbanya?
Fun Fact
Mau tau seberapa mengerikan pajak kendaraan di Indonesia?
🇲🇾 Malaysia
UMR = 7,4 juta
Pajak mobil Avanza = 330k/tahun
🇮🇩 Indonesia
UMR = 3,4 Juta
Pajak mobil Avanza = 4 juta/tahun
Pantas aja banyak yg udah kerja keras setiap hari, tapi tetap sulit untuk bisa hidup layak
🚨 UPDATE: 8 people charged in Sex Ring “Underground Bunker” for Paying adults to Rape their Children and Pets — Ages 3-16. Trial delayed as mom pleads guilty and flips on co-defendants
In Bibb County, Alabama, eight suspects ran a sex trafficking ring out of an underground bunker where children as young as 3 were drugged, bound, and raped with adults paying to abuse them.
Animals were also targeted.
Rebecca Brewer and mother of some of the victims, pleaded guilty to sexual torture and nine counts of first-degree kidnapping. As part of the deal she agreed to testify against the other seven defendants.
The trial for the remaining suspects has been delayed while the case expands, including a federal investigation into at least one of them.
These monsters turned their own kids and pets into victims for profit.
How long will it take for every last one of them to face real justice?
The hardware store closes at 6PM.. It's 5:58 when a kid walks in. The kid can't be more than sixteen. Soaking wet and shaking from the rain...
"We're closing." Tom says.
"Please. I just need a lock. For a door."
Something in the kid's voice. Terror. Desperation.
"What kind of lock?"
"I don't know. Just one that keeps people out."
The kid's got a black eye. Fresh. The kind that's still swelling.
Tom doesn't ask. Just walks to aisle seven. Shows him the locks. The kid reaches for the cheapest one, $8.99.
"That one's garbage," Tom says, "Won't stop anyone determined."
He hands him a deadbolt. Heavy duty. $34.99.
The kid's face crumbles. "I only have twelve dollars."
They stand there. Store empty except for them.
Tom takes the deadbolt to the register. Rings it up. "Twelve dollars."
"But,"
"Sale price. Today only."
The kid knows there's no sale. Knows this old man is lying. Tries not to cry and fails.
Tom bags it. Adds a screwdriver. Free.
"You know how to install it?"
The kid shakes his head...
They drive in Tom's truck. Don't talk. The kid directs him to a rundown duplex on the east side.
Upstairs apartment. Door frame cracked. Old lock broken, hanging loose.
Tom installs the deadbolt. Takes him fifteen minutes. Tests it. Solid.
Hands the kid both keys.
"Someone tries to get in, you call 911. You hear me?"
The kid nods.
Tom's halfway to his truck when he hears it, "Why?"
He turns around. The kid's standing in the doorway, backlit, holding those keys like they're made of gold.
"Why did you help me?"
Tom thinks about his own son. Twenty years ago. Different city. Same desperate eyes. Didn't make it.
"Because you asked," Tom says simply.
He drives home. Doesn't tell his wife. Doesn't think much about it.
Three weeks pass.
A woman comes into the store. Tired eyes but smiling. "Are you Tom?"
"Yes, Ma'am."
"My son told me about you. The lock you sold him." She's crying now. "His father, my ex-husband, he's not a good man. That lock kept us safe until I could get the restraining order. Until we could breathe."
She hands Tom an envelope. "It's not much. But it's the thirty dollars we owed you, plus a little more."
Tom tries to refuse. She won't let him.
"You didn't just sell him a lock," she says. "You saw him. You saw us. When we were invisible."
After she leaves, Tom opens the envelope. Sixty dollars. And a note from the kid:
"Installed three more locks for neighbors who needed them. Taught myself how...
"Going to trade school next year. Maybe I'll work in a hardware store someday. Be someone like you. -Marcus"
Tom's manager notices him crying by the register.
"You okay?"
"Yeah," Tom says. "Just... yeah."
That night, Tom stayed two minutes past closing. Then five. Then ten.
In case someone walks in at 5:58PM. Soaking wet. Desperate. Needing more than just a lock.
Tom learned something.
The last customer of the day may be the most important one we ever serve.
1998: Fahri Hamzah pimpin KAMMI, turun ke jalan lawan Orde Baru.
Tuntutannya: cabut dwifungsi ABRI, berantas KKN, tegakkan demokrasi.
2024: Fahri masuk Kabinet Prabowo jadi Wakil Menteri.
Bilang Prabowo punya "niat baik."
Multifungsi militer kembali.
Polisi masuk ruang sipil.
DPR bukan lagi penyeimbang eksekutif.
As sea levels rise along Indonesia’s coastline, areas in Java are sinking by 1.15 metres a year. The island’s subsidence is partly the legacy of centuries of exploitation.

hazard.
For those who want a bit more context: a massive student and worker protest is unfolding in Indonesia’s capital in response to the Prabowo government’s decision to raise fuel prices, alongside other policies that many Indonesians are calling corrupt because they deepen the burden on working-class Indonesians already struggling with rising living costs and a weakening rupiah.
What’s fueling the anger even further is the broader feeling that economic pressure is being pushed downward onto ordinary people while major policy decisions continue to favour politicians and the ultra wealthy.
Just last year, Indonesians protested over the same kind of government corruption, which led to a crackdown on its own civilians using military force in cities like Jakarta and Bandung, resulting in multiple deaths and injuries, including those of students.
This situation, however, embarrassed the Probowo government, as people from all over the world began paying attention and massed mobilised to send food, medical/legal aid and financial donations via apps like Grab and Ojek (the region’s equivalent of Uber) the movement received particularly strong support from people across Asia, especially Southeast and East Asia, while also drawing contributions from around the world. This is why Indonesians are asking the world pay attention to their country again.
In the North Atlantic Ocean, south of Greenland and Iceland, a large patch of water is doing something very strange. While the rest of the ocean heats up, it's been getting colder. A new study says it has the answer to this mystery — and it's an ominous sign the world is hurtling toward one of the most alarming climate tipping points. https://t.co/3IcVwmYXBy
Klaim sepihak pemerintah yang menyebut BBM jenis Pertamax hanya dikonsumsi "orang kaya" telak dihantam realita di aspal. Faktanya, kebijakan menaikkan harga Pertamax hingga Rp4.000 per liter justru mencekik leher kelas pekerja bawah mereka yang terpaksa bertahan demi menjaga modal kerja utama yaitu mesin kendaraan.
