Short trips by bicycle are powerful in the fight against climate change. But mostly bike rides are FUN! Oh yeah, bicycle trips also improve mental health, improve physical health, cost almost nothing, don't require parking, reduce wear on streets, and reduce traffic congestion!
A genuine pleasure to have an inspirational Mayor -- and the skilled City staff and leadership -- to make Pittsburgh a better place to ride and walk!
Thank you @MayorEdGainey!
Over the weekend, I joined @pogohbikes for their End of Summer Roll-Up to gain a deeper understanding from residents of what it's like for them to bike on Pittsburgh streets.
What an amazing community, Pittsburgh.
Tesla's board is asking shareholders to approve $56 billion in compensation for Elon Musk.
That's enough to give the 15,000 or so workers who will soon be laid off $3.73 million.
Each.
@MayorEdGainey Thanks for showing out Mr Mayor! Dilworth is a great school and they do this EVERY Morning! Our youngest child is in one of those pics. Love to see kids active in the morning.
@seancollierpgh makes a couple really good observations: thriving US cities have many walkable, car-free parts of their downtowns, and the Clemente bridge should be pedestrian only. But car parking is priced about right: PPA garages are reasonable, private garages are expensive.
If Pittsburgh wants to become a more walkable city, writes PM Managing Editor Sean Collier, that starts with more affordable and available parking.

@MrChuckD The music deserves to stop when you speak to them. One of the most prophetic voices of a generation, your thoughts span genres, ethnicities, decades, and mediums. Salute
I haven't tried the new e-assist bikes yet, but given the terrain around here they should open up a lot more of the city to those of us who tend to stick to the riverfront trails.
As you breathe outside you spend $200USD. As you go back inside, light, water, gas and community bill kotch inna yuh postbox. Me cyaa ketch a break inna dis almshouse 😭
Just Published! 🚨 Incorporating Shared Micromobility in Electric Vehicle Charging Projects. This resource advocates inclusion of shared micromobility charging in overall efforts to build capacity for electric vehicle charging. Read and share broadly! https://t.co/P4dhUfig0i
I think Bike Share systems should be integrated into the local public transit operators. Bikes and transit compliment each other so well. Fare integration would be interesting to figure out. Imagine if your transit fare included a free transfer to a 15 minute bike ride.
⚡🤝🚲 Meet the awesome people behind @pogohbikes , live and in-person at OpenStreets! POGOH is staffing stations on and around the route to help you create an acct and learn about the bike share.
❗Remember, don’t leave your POGOH bike unattended while enjoying the festivities
Here’s how you know it’s Appalachia: the most popular park in the city, whose playground entrance shown here, made famous by a Mac Miller song, has a no hunting sign
I fell in love with hip hop because of De La Soul. I’ve shared their music with my children on vinyl and now I’m overjoyed to share it online. Happy De La Day!!
