Jordan Peterson on why crying means growth:
"Children cry quite often and they cry when they encounter an impediment that they can't surmount."
@jordanbpeterson draws a striking parallel between adult tears and childhood development. He argues that crying is a neurological reset.
"I think what tears do is dissolve you to the state of neurological plasticity that characterizes early childhood so that you can learn."
In other words, when you cry, your brain is literally returning to a state where it's capable of being rewired. The same openness to learning that children have naturally, adults can only access through emotional breakdown.
Peterson acknowledges this process is deeply uncomfortable:
"People don't like that reversion. It's humiliating. But you have to break."
He then explains what that breaking actually signals:
"The crying is an indication that the current conceptual structure is insufficient. It has to die and then the tears come, and then now you're prepared neurologically to learn something new."
This is the core insight. Your tears are a sign that your old way of understanding the world has reached its limit. The framework you've been operating with can no longer hold the reality in front of you, and it needs to collapse before a new one can take its place.
Peterson describes what follows:
"Whatever comes out of the discussion… will replace that old conceptual structure that's outdated and immature with a new somewhat fragile conceptual structure."
The new understanding that emerges is fragile at first. It's not a finished product. But it replaces something that was no longer serving you.
If you’re a hyperactive, high agency type of guy, the only path where you don’t go insane is entrepreneurship. It’s the only life that will stimulate you enough and put you in different situations and problems that actually make your brain function. The more you try to tame that energy the less you will feel alive. Some of us were made for complexity and ambiguity. The safe path is the most dangerous one. You know deep down you’re made for something different. Business is what gives you that. Avoid traditional jobs at all costs. Of course the price is high stress, uncertainty and lots of ups and downs… but let’s be honest, would you have it any other way? No. It’s too boring.
The problem with giving people endless access to you is that familiarity erodes consequence, and once consequence disappears, so does reverence, because human beings rarely value what remains permanently available, no matter how exceptional it is.
The best part of having no friends is not caring what they think. Whether you realize it or not, your family and friends, especially close relationships hold you back because you're trying to maintain an image of who you think you are to them.
When you surrender, that is, trying to get–and realize you have it all–that's when it all comes rushing to you. Study energy, frequency, and smart people. Not smart as in educated by the system, but educated by themselves.
The REAL education… isn’t that expensive.
You just have to be willing to think..
Which therein lies the crux of the issue. Most people cannot think.
Thinking is challenging.
People don’t want to think… or they do they just don’t realize it yet.
You want to think for yourself..
But if you start thinking, you may come to different conclusions than your family.. than your friends.. than your teachers.. than your churches.. schools.. and even massive massive thought movements…
And your brain is not supposed to go there lol
Your soul and spirit are..
But your brain is not supposed to go there because your brains main job is to keep you alive… and it’s not changed much over thousand and thousands of years….
It’s designed to seek out danger and remain alert and to go away from danger.
But only those with soul and spirit are truly alive.
And EVEN just a different idea or thought or belief or story… you cannot even begin to entertain it because to do so would be “death”
This is why the masses live quiet lives of desperation.
But no condemnation… I’m routing for everyone to awaken to the idea that fear is an illusion.
Look….
You stay aware long enough.
You study enough.
You pay attention long enough.
You dig deep enough .
You relax enough.
You’re going to have direct experience .
As Carl Jung said when asked if he believed in god.
He said eloquently with perfect hesitation, “… now? … difficult to answer… I know… I don’t need to believe, I know.”
Invest in the intangible. Most can't and won't because they're too logical. They need to see results now. Yet this is not how reality is structured. Cast your net to the right side.
The ultimate sales perspective and strategy is to make people your clients before they know they’re your client. Start guiding, helping, contributing, counseling, even and especially before money exchanges hands.
What I’m getting at here is.. a lot of “rich” people don’t even know how they did it. They didn’t consciously create it. They can’t help people. And if you’ll notice they’re still seeking for something. They have a huge ego. No personality. And their only advice is work hard.
Entrepreneurship, personal development, self-education, lead you eventually to spirituality because you realize you’re still empty yet have everything you ever wanted. Spirituality says you’ve always had everything you’ve ever wanted.
