Professor Id-Deen, @Prof_IdDeenL your keynote has continued to reverberate in my mind! Your presentation created a better teacher in me; you gave helpful so many nuggets throughout your time with us. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. #CAMT26#RISDBelieves@RISDMath
Day 3 at #CAMT26 kicked off with Robert Kaplinsky asking how we measure success; correct answers or growth. The interesting thing, he had us pull out something to write with and on to do the math! Open Middle Problems brings in the challenge. @RISDmath
Dr. Lateefah Id-Deen told us, “When we honor the strategy a grandmother taught at the kitchen table, we're telling that kid: Your thinking belongs here.” Our way isn’t the only one. @RISDmath#CAMT26
#CAMT26 We aren’t outside, but we are having fun while learning about ways to make math more meaningful in our classrooms. @RISDMath https://t.co/OZE7lhvyAa
Day 1 of @CAMT_TX was a great day of talking and exploring math with creative sessions in beautiful downtown Fort Worth. There is even a quote up by our wonderful @julieteague1234 in the @GreatMindsEd booth! Looking forward to Day 2! @RISDmath
Thank you to all the secondary math teachers who joined us for our "Getting Started with Savvas" summer PD. Experiencing the new curriculum's performance tasks as students is the best way to prepare for the upcoming school year! @RISDmath@IamBranum@kristinleeper9
Are your Ss talking about the @NBA playoffs? 🏆
🏀Have them look out for the number of 3-point shots taken in each game!
The “3-point revolution” has reshaped professional basketball strategy over the past couple of decades.
Why? Mid-range shots (2-pointers) are made at only a slightly higher rate than 3-point shots, but 3-point attempts can be worth more when you calculate expected points: probability of scoring × point value.
Teams realized that if their players can turn some of their mid-range shots into 3s, they will score much more efficiently and win more games.
Over time, the average number of 3-point attempts per game has climbed, even while 3-point accuracy has stayed relatively steady at around 33%!
