In Rgveda, Indra and Soma are praised as sovereign kings and called Rishabha (bull). Agni is praised as Rishabha (bull). The Rigvedic king Trasadasyu or his descendent is praised as a Rishabha (bull).

Mahabharata profusely use the term Nararshabha (bull among men), Purusharshabha (bull among men), etc to mean men with strength, apart from the very popular Bharatarshabha (bull among Bharatas).
