Last week I hosted family for Thanksgiving.

My 12-year-old nephew asked for the WiFi password.

He wanted to play Roblox on his iPad.

I looked at the device.

Unmanaged. No antivirus. No encryption.

I’m an IT Professional. I don't run an open network.

So I didn’t give him the password.

Instead, I spent 45 minutes provisioning a Guest VLAN.

I set up a captive portal.

I throttled the bandwidth down to 56kbps.

Then I blocked all traffic on ports 80 and 443.

He came back crying. He said it wouldn't load.

My sister screamed at me to "just let him play."

I told her that Zero Trust architecture doesn't care about bloodlines.

We didn't have a "fun" Thanksgiving.

But we had a secure perimeter.

@JHBWater Please can we have an update on Observatory, Yeoville, Berea and the surroundings. This is absolute madness! A 52 hour endeavor should not become almost a full one week of no water. The lack of communication is appalling given how many are affected by this.

@JHBWater Is it a case of retaining capacity or preparing for post repairs and restoration? Yesterday Yeoville was fine. Today, both Berea and Yeoville are red and have no further information in relation to it. It's pathetic.

@JHBWater So what is going on with the Yeoville and Bellevue reservoirs? Observatory and the surrounds have not had water since yesterday morning. Same thing happened 2 weeks ago when we went close to 4 days without water. What is going on?

@cavalier__youth @JHBWater Legit in the same boat. Observatory and yeoville was not mentioned, nor was the yeoville reservoir. We haven't had water since Friday morning🤷🏾‍♀️. Still no mention of these areas in their comms. It's incredibly frustrating.

@CityPowerJhb Is there an update on this? It's almost an hour passed the ETR. So safe to say that things did not go according to plan. This is absolutely horrible. The new schedule is doing more harm than good.
