About one tonne of loose palm oil and 476 kg of glycerol monostearate were seized from dairy units during a TG SAFE special drive targeting paneer and other dairy products in Hyderabad and adjoining districts.

Officials also seized 1,760 packs of Mavee’s Classic Premium Cooking Cream and 150 kg of skimmed milk powder, taking the total value of seized food articles to ₹7,19,340.

The 12 enforcement teams, comprising Food Safety Officers, police personnel and H-FAST officers, inspected 14 manufacturing and retail units in the core urban region and adjoining districts.

Officials found loose palm oil and glycerol monostearate in some units preparing paneer as analogues. They also reported cockroach and house-fly infestation, violations in hygiene and sanitation, and a lack of milk procurement records to identify the source of milk.

The teams lifted 21 samples on suspicion of adulteration. TG SAFE said about one tonne of palm oil was seized for violation of the Food Safety and Standards (Prohibition and Restrictions on Sales) Regulations, 2011, while 476 kg of glycerol monostearate was seized over its unauthorised use in paneer manufacturing.

The authority also seized 1,760 packs of Mavee’s Classic Premium Cooking Cream over misleading claims or advertisements and 150 kg of skimmed milk powder on suspicion of quality issues.

TG SAFE will issue improvement notices to Sri Mahalaxmi Kendra at Khanapur, Ibrahimpatnam, and Anitha Dairy at Hayathnagar. The units will be revisited to check compliance with food safety norms.

Show-cause notices will be issued to Geetha Dairy at Nadergul and NARMUL (Mother Dairy), with further action for imposing penalties.

The FSSAI licences of Laxmi Foods at Gaganpahad, Dhana Lakshmi Dairy Products at Mailardevpally, Rajendranagar, and Natraj Milk & Milk Food Products at Peesari Enclave, Thurkapally, Alwal, are being suspended, with instructions to stop business operations immediately.

TG SAFE said Laxmi Foods was found with 600 litres of loose palm oil, along with cockroach infestation, untidy milk containers and improper storage. Dhana Lakshmi Dairy Products had 195 litres of loose palm oil, blocked drains, foul smell and house flies, among other violations.

At Natraj Milk & Milk Food Products, officials reported rusty asbestos sheets, damp and moss growth and mouldy surfaces, besides the unauthorised use of glycerol monostearate in paneer manufacturing.
