The @governmentmv @min_mohst to organise a rally on #MayDay is an attempt to effectively undermining and and attempting to hiject a space meant for workers and thier unions to rally for thier rights. It silences the voices of the working class - strips the right to 'collevtivism' and places blocks to prevent building power within the working class- maintaining the status quo.
While absolutely, nothing has been done to uphold the law.

The system conveniently shifts the blame to the victim.
As per education ministry the child has 'anger management issues'
This event is not isolated, but signifies the vulnerable situation in which educators work across the country.
Majority cases are shrugged under the rug, few cases surfaces into social media.
Justice for victims are far from reach, especially being a migrant makes it particularly difficult.

If a child/anyone has 'anger management issues', it needs to addressed through the social services.
The system is crippled from all angles.

The right to peaceful assembly is a fundamental human right, and a right guaranteed under the constitution of the Maldives.
Condemn the act by @governmentmv for dismantling, @FishermensUnion peaceful assembly and arresting people for exercising their right to peaceful assembly, and right to collectively protect and demand for fair wages and decent life. Calling for immediate release of the detained.
Yet, deeply concerned over the prevailing 'vulnerabilities' which the migrants population are being pushed. They are forced to be 'trapped' and become 'undocumented' - not willingly but in the premise of 'human trafficking'.
Which strip them of, their very right to live, breathe, and access to fundamental human rights such as the right to social protection and legal protections.

At Women’s Committee meeting and Caucus of the 15th Asia-Pacific Regional Conference of PSI, the General Secretary of MHPU and Executive Board Member for South Asia, PSI, Ms. @Fathimathzimna highlighted key challenges to gender equality and worker protection from all forms of harassment and violence. She stressed the barriers created by entrenched patriarchy, underreporting due to fear of retaliation, and the misuse of social media for defamation and harassment—particularly against women in politics. She concluded by urging unions to strengthen their responses, noting that silence often prevails when perpetrators hold social or political power.

Dear Esteemed Minister,
A word of gratitude or a greeting does not compensate for the sacrifices made by healthcare workers - to safeguard the health of our nation.

The @governmentmv @MoFmv @MoHmv policies exploit healthcare workers through UNPAID LABOUR.

While @MaldivesHPU have communicated the concerns regarding unpaid labor & presence of forced labor - in-person to you
No positive change has been brought to end the persisting unpaid labor.

The additional hours of unpaid labor strip workers of their right to spend meaningful time with family , and deny them the well-deserved rest they are entitled to.

All of this undermines the quality of care and has long-term negative impacts on both healthcare workers and the overall health system.

We once again call to end #unpaid #labor and fully compensate for all hours compelled to work

The healthcare workforce has always stepped in to fill the gaps, ensuring the continuity of services while sacrificing their own well-being and welfare.

The very least that can be done is to ensure timely payment of wages and provide a safe, respectful working environment free from violence, harassment, and intimidation.
