It's time for another quick update on paediatric #COVID19 evidence!
Most new information is about transmission so we'll focus on that for now. It's pretty interesting!

Latest ONS deaths data (to w/e 8 May) has been released.
Whilst we’re clearly past the first peak, the impact of COVID-19 is still clear.
There were 3,081 more deaths than normal in week.
Year to date there have been 20.8% more deaths than the 5-year avg.
Yesterday’s all-cause mortality surveillance from @PHE_uk shows another week-on-week fall in excess deaths in England in week 18.
Still a very significant number of excess deaths though.
This is a week ahead of the @ONS updates so this will feed into next Tuesday’s release.
Latest ONS weekly deaths data (to w/e 17 April) has been released and the impact of COVID-19 is again striking, with death numbers significantly higher than normal in week.
Year to date there have been 11.9% more deaths than the five-year average.
Please see notes below.
France is extremely accurate in its daily reporting of Covid-19 deaths (much more so than UK) judging by the latest “excess mortality” figures issued by the French statistics agency, INSEE. The figures also reveal that one third of France has scarcely been touched by C19.

@ActuaryByDay Great work Stuart in communicating the materiality and the delay between change in behaviour and incidence. Hasn’t the govt reduced number of tests (eg not routinely testing NHS workers) so may not be consistency?
Hence you can see why WASHING YOUR HANDS can reduce the spread dramatically. Here is a model of pandemic spread showing dramatic. HT @fryRsquared https://t.co/Lgq6c92w47
@JosephineCumbo What next? Take up smoking? Absolutely bonkers. We must address the cause (contribution levels), not administer risky medicine. Just as in living a healthy, long life prevention is better than cure.
Are there early signs of a longevity bounce back in the UK in 2019?
In this edition of @clubvita Top Charts, I've explored how the number of deaths experienced in recent years compares to the first half of 2019. What are your thoughts? #longevity#risk https://t.co/DEiBmOQHsv
