In my personal experience, I didn't realize how much my mental health would exhaust me and bring me to an all-time low productivity in my freelance career. I haven't been able to outreach or market myself and it's not because I'm lazy.... It's my ADHD + depression.
If anyone in the Twitterverse has family who makes this and you're willing to share your recipe, please DM me! Or, if you know of any fairly reliable and authentic recipes please let me know (I am actively researching)! Thanks so much in advance ๐ค

Hi friends!
I'm a Spanish teacher and am doing my best trying to incorporate Black History Month into my lesson plans this month (obviously am ongoing conversation and continuously talking about Afrolatinos). One way I'm doing this is by talking about Afrolatino dishes...
I'm doing a unit on "La comida latina." I want to talk about Latine food with African roots. I do want to try my hand at making some specifically Caribbean and Mexican dishes. A few dishes I've found are: Quimbombo, Mofongo, Mangรบ, and Mogo Mogo.
Is anyone has ever experienced having these very difficult and uncomfortable conversations with family (esp older folks/parents of Larine descent), I beg for some guidance. Otherwise, thanks for listening/reading me vent into the abyss that is the Twitter sphere. (4/4) ๐งต- End
I'm so saddened to hear my parents, whom I love so dearly and are (for the most part) great parents, refuse to accept the reality that is the increase in mental health diagnoses.
My brother talked to me about having spoken to a Dr about BPD and my mom just dismissed it. ๐งต (1/4)
It's very much a "Spare the rod, spoil the child" mentality.
And, I am adding even more research to my own plate so I have all of the most valuable and credible sources to present to them. They need to understand that my brother needs help and medication can be vital. (3/4)
Y'ALL...
I submitted a proposal for TESOL Con 2023 and it was accepted!!! I am over the moon and so grateful to my @MIIS professors for their encouragement and support. & (Especially) to @linnea_schiff for being such an inspiration for the proposal and genius friend/classmate ๐
I will never understand how family will misspell and mispronounce my kids' names. And, not just family who has only read the names... I'm talking about family that spends many minutes, hours, even days with us.
It boggles my mind and frustrates me to nooo end.
Today I accepted a teaching job offer that I'm hoping I won't regret.
But, as a mom who has been WFH since my first baby was 6-mos. old and my second was born, I have a lot of anxiety over child care.
Any happy stories of parents who went back to work after kids?
I don't know that I will ever understand how or why grandparents and/or childless family members feel SO entitled to parenting someone else's child in a much different style than the parents have decided; or to corporal punishment of, again, a child that isn't theirs.
He's TWO, jfc. He didn't intentionally do something with malice (i.e., walk out the front door with an adult), in his mind he just thought he always goes out the front door and takes walks with his dogs. What's so different about it now?
Why am I going to punish him for that?!
