मंदिर प्रांगण में नमाज़ पढ़ने वालों में बाबरी मस्जिद के मुख्य पैरोकार हाशिम अंसारी के अलावा शहर के तमाम मौलाना शामिल थे

टाइम्स ऑफ़ इंडिया के अनुसार 2004 में महंत योगी आदित्यनाथ और मछलीशहर सांसद रामविलास वेदांती के नेतृत्व में विश्व हिंदू परिषद के कार्यकर्ताओं ने आयोजन नहीं होने दिया

और फ़ैज़ाबाद के सिविल जज ने इस पर रोक भी लगाई थी
