Unemployment is THE major crisis. Pair this data on 'formal' (un)employment with over 77 lakh households demanding employment through MGNREGS but not getting it as on 1 Feb.
Grim.
'job' came up 6 times in #budget2022 speech. ALL in reference to potential jobs. Nothing concrete.
Taxing the rich more and the ultra rich even more should be labelled "innovative financing", to get goverment 'buy-in'.
Framing.
Also, reminder that a greatly unequal India still has very low income tax rates compared to more developed countries.
Perhaps instead of talking about rich people's net "worth", we should talk about their net *appropriation* — of human labour and our planet's resources.
