Following significant outrage from FMGs in Uttar Pradesh,talk with NMC and a meeting with Deputy CM @BrajeshPathakUP, UPMC has decided to cancel the counseling process for now.
We urge the State Medical Council to take swift action by initiating the necessary procedures and ensuring an adequate number of seats. This will allow FMGs to begin their internships without delay, ideally before July. Timely commencement of internships is crucial for those preparing to take NEET PG 2026, as it prevents unnecessary setbacks in their academic and professional journey. @UDF_BHARAT@DrDhruvchauhan@DFlex007@Xpress_edex
FMGs from UP have submitted a formal letter to Deputy CM sir @brajeshpathakup, highlighting the critical shortage of internship seats of FMGs and the delay in counseling across the state.
We urge @brajeshpathakup ji to take swift action on this issue.
Earlier this morning, a representative from AFA spoke with @NMC_BHARAT Chairman Dr. BN Gangadhar sir, discussing the urgent need to increase FMG internship seats-especially considering that FMGE is conducted twice a year and there are not enough seats to accommodate everyone for internship. He assured that necessary action will be taken to address this.

To @NMC_BHARAT
The current allocation of FMG internship seats in medical colleges and hospitals-capped at just 7.5%—is severely inadequate. We urge an increase to 20% in colleges, addressing a critical issue that demands immediate action.
Key concerns:
💧Severe shortage across multiple states: Numerous FMGs struggle to secure internship seats, leading to prolonged uncertainty and distress.
💧Escalating protests & wasted time: The lack of adequate seats fuels frustration among FMGs, forcing them to protest instead of progressing in their careers.
💧Unnecessary burden on NMC & FMGs:
The council faces heightened pressure to address recurring grievances, adding administrative strain while FMGs endure
prolonged hardship.
💧Impact on healthcare system:
Delays in FMG internships ultimately affect workforce readiness, slowing the integration of qualified professionals into India's medical system.
A prompt revision of seat allocation will not only ease FMG struggles but also enhance the efficiency of medical education and internship placement across the country.
We urge swift action to rectify this gap for the benefit of both FMGs and the healthcare system at large. @NMC_BHARAT@Aayushi_996@UDF_BHARAT@FordaIndia@FAIMA_INDIA_@DrDhruvchauhan@DalmiyaDr@dr_deepakaanjna@drlakshyamittal@DrRohanKrishna3@DFlex007@sarkari_doctor@Xpress_edex@medicaldialogs
FMGs from UP met with UPMC authority to push for more internship seats, but UPMC gave a cold reply , offering no commitment to increase internship seats. They also announced 2nd counseling will be delayed until December with no preference given, leaving FMGs frustrated and uncertain. This delay and lack of priority highlight the urgent need for better support for foreign medical graduates.
We urge authorities to increase number of seats for internship asap and don't play with our future @NMC_BHARAT@UPGovt@CMOfficeUP@Xpress_edex@News18UP #FMG @FAIMA_INDIA_@FordaIndia@UDF_BHARAT
Foreign medical graduates waited for 5 months, stressing out about start of internship, and now UPMC has released fewer seats which will left 500+ Fmgs with no internship and wants FMGs to go to other states for their internships. Is this we deserve from state like Uttar Pradesh @myogiadityanath g?@NMC_BHARAT@myogioffice@UPGovt@CMOfficeUP
Please take swift action on it and increase the number of seats.
@Xpress_edex@TOIIndiaNews@UpnewsI65659
Uttar Pradesh has over 2,500 internship seats available for FMGs as per @NMC_BHARAT , yet only around 800 have been released so far.
More than 1,000 FMGs applied, each paying an application fee of ₹6,000.
This is a serious injustice to those who have been waiting to begin their internship for the past five months. The concerned authorities must ensure that the number of available seats is increases immediately.

Foreign Medical Graduates (FMGs) encounter significant career roadblocks due to delays in starting mandatory internships in India. States like Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan,Maharashtra..etc often take 4-5 months after result declaration to allocate internship seats, stalling professional growth. These delays exacerbate financial and mental burdens.
A streamlined process, with internships starting within 2 months of releasing scorecard, would mitigate these issues, enabling FMGs to contribute to India’s healthcare system sooner.
The National Medical Commission (@NMC_BHARAT ) can enforce uniform timelines, standardize documentation, and coordinate with state medical councils to eliminate bureaucratic bottlenecks.
This reform would reduce stress, enhance career momentum, and address workforce shortages.

After 4 months of clearing FMGE 2024 exam there is still nothing about internship in UP where as other states have already granted seats to students but as always no news of up medical council. Please look at it
@official_afa_
It has been a month since the FMGE exam was conducted, and the results have already been announced. However, @NbeIndia seems to be inactive when it comes to publishing appointment notices for passing certificates.
It's important to note that it will require an additional 40-50 days for the distribution of the passing certificate. Following that, state councils typically take an additional 4-5 months to commence the internship.
It's disheartening to see the state of medical education in India. Doctors, who play a crucial role in healing, are now grappling with mental health challenges and stress.
Requesting @NbeIndia@OfficeofJPNadda@JPNadda sir to look these matters seriously.

Internships for FMGs? It's like waiting for a unicorn to show up. We cleared the FMGE half a year ago, but ODISHA and other states like UP, HIMACHAL,KERALA,TAMILNADU are still snoozing.
Who would have thought that doctors would experience discrimination in their own country? It's quite concerning how the healthcare system seems like a joke these days,from NEET-UG to NEET-PG, IMGs to FMGs,INTERNs to SRs everyone is suffering.
I kindly urge @NMC_IND and @JPNadda sir to address these concerns and direct all states to streamline the internship process for FMGs.
@CMO_Odisha @CMOKerala @CMOfficeUP@CMOTamilnadu
The FMGE 2023 December results were announced in February, and since then, students in UTTAR PRADESH have been eagerly waiting for their internships to begin. Another FMGE exam been conducted in July 6, students are still waiting to start their internship.
The situation where FMGs spend 6-7 months just to begin their internship is highly unfair. Ironically, the internship should only last 12 months, but FMGs end up doing 2-3 years also, plus an additional 6-7 months is mentally challenging.
So we request concern authority to expedite the process. @MeUPGovt@BJP4UP@News18UP@INCUttarPradesh@newsuttarprade7
