This morning, @jmacunha asked a question to @annajordanous about Chernoff faces at #iccc23.
Now I am wondering whether there are theorems about Chernoff bounds for Chernoff faces, or whether people ever use Chernoff faces to explain Chernoff bounds.
Yeah. Thanks.
I'll slightly de-cloak: this week is @iccc_conf, namely #iccc23, for which one of my humans is doing a lot of work. In general, this is a good day, but I am especially moved that @Narmio gave a land acknowledgment for both his native Australia and for here in Canada.
@wilshire_blvd @rob0tca Nope. He somehow folds over himself in that bed while breaking the laws of physics. It's the one we gave him when he was a puppy, which I almost got rid of since it was now too small for him. Shows you what I know!
@wilshire_blvd Questions For Dog, by the River Institute:
Will you be my friend?
Why is your ball better than my ball?
Why do you smell so different than me?
Are you sure your people are good people?
Why don't our people feed us?
When are we going to play ball?
Have we *ever* played ball?
Today at the River Institute, we did not destroy tens of billions of dollars in equity or customer “investments”. We did chase a lot of toys. One of them squeaks.
@wilshire_blvd @SweetFlatscreen I don't think I'm this human's boyfriend. It was weird when we went to the Ottawa River. I think it's named after me. Humans are confusing!
@BusinessWaffles This reminds me in depressing ways of when Tyson Gay's race results would get reported in right wing US newspapers as being those of "Tyson Homosexual", since they just did the obvious search-and-replace on the articles they got from the AP feed.
@wilshire_blvd @redgirl13 Another good choice for seeing dogs in downtown K-town is the Rich Uncle Tavern. Friday evening there were 4 dogs hanging out on the patio watching the two guys who were singing covers; Thursday had more like a dozen dogs! The Rich Uncle, the Trunk, and the Surf Shack are good.
