Well I tried to read Red White and Royal Blue as an avid consumer of fanfic and I'm here to tell you: read free shit instead, you'll have a better time. Why was it so long? Why were there so many damn politics? Why were all the female characters the same?? Ugh.

Can't relax enough to go to sleep so I'm re-reading my ancient unfinished WIP instead and thinking about my failures 👌

@jakkucrew How does multitasking work lol

[rei @riverbends_]

I wanna write this 90's grunge #knightpilot au but I'm
a) in the middle of another fic
b) supposed to be editing a third fic
c) for real supposed to be editing my actual manuscript

[rei @riverbends_]

@jakkucrew Oh yeah I 100% get that. I check pacing for books/original stuff just not fics! But like, fic does have some v interesting conventions... I'd be curious about your findings lol

[rei @riverbends_]

@jakkucrew I like to play fast and loose with pacing in fic but I definitely do this for voice and style

[rei @riverbends_]

Do I keep track of all the fanfic I read this year alongside the books?? Tbh it would be a massive effort... but maybe it'd make me feel like I'm getting somewhere in life lmao

2000s: Girl power! Girl bosses! Women can do anything!

2010s: So, clarification, "anything" wasn't intended to include video game development, comic books, talking online, running for political office, or ghost-busting.
