It was reported and I can't fault the EA. Quick response and the source was identified very quickly, with further assessment of the water downstream.
Officially we don't know where it came from. I hope it leads to prosecution.
It came from knolton Brook. Look on a map!
Yesterday we encountered a serious, ongoing pollution incident on The Worm. Phosphate levels were 5.2ppm and 2.7ppm 1.5 miles downstream.
Carelessness, bad maintenance or even deliberate?
It brings into question the treating and concentrating of agricultural waste.
@MerryAlbright Mine gets really really wet in winter but not flooded from elsewhere. A farmer cuts it late after the seeds have dropped and feeds it his cows. Its never grazed these days and is naturally filling itself up with all sorts. Wish I knew what everything was.
☠️ Extinction moment imminent
Imagine you are a Wye Salmon returning home to spawn
You finally complete this odyssey after many hazardous years out in the Atlantic Ocean
And then you find the river bed where you are supposed to lay your eggs coated with thick noxious green sludge caused by pollution from intensive 🐓production
What chance do you have as a species? 😢

This issue is too big for any part of the supply chain to ignore. We sincerely hope supermarkets including @Tesco step up to be part of the solution.

The Environment Agency have been integrating CS monitoring since March last year. What’s stopping you?
Now well past 48 hours in which hundreds of homes in the Golden Valley have been without water. Some are vulnerable, many are elderly and all are very concerned about not having water over Christmas. The comms from @DwrCymru have been dire. We need action from them this day.
@DwrCymru WHAT ABOUT HEREFORDSHIRE? We need full, accurate and regular updates about the loss of water supplies. Who you think is still affected, where they can get water, when the mains will be back on, which human beings they can call to log problems. @Ofwat@OfwatChair
