Foreign sources of crude oil imports to California for the year 2024.
California was once a leading producer and exporter of oil and crude oil products in the world.
Much of California's 20th-century economy was predicated on oil and gasoline production, which, in turn, provided the fuel to support its population growth, agricultural production, the defense industry, and later the tech industries.
Agree with @PhilMickelson on this.
California Oil and Energy policies need a reform, all the anti oil, gas, energy production will come to bite us all in California.
We’re looking at:
- Gasoline shortages
- Price increase
- unemployment in cities like Benicia, home to 26,000 people and the biggest employer there is Valero Energy Corp with about 400 workers.
Shutting down that single refinery will decline the in state production by 9%.
Are you even serious right now?
Your shipping in dirtier oil using Chinese and Russian tankers no less putting our entire country at risk because we can’t supply 2 dozen military bases relying upon CA for fuel specifically from Valero Benicia which is about to close 🤦♂️
Funding Announcement: @catalyxspace has raised a $5.4M seed round to build the complete back-end infrastructure for space — enabling both upmass and downmass for the next era of orbital logistics. This brings our total funding to $7.1 million.
Exactly one year ago, my friend @heysaqh and I left everything behind in India and arrived at LAX, hoping to build our new space company in the U.S. Meanwhile, our friends @clinton_atspace and @ChandKeerthan focused on developing spacecraft hardware back home in India.
We joined the @techstars space accelerator and later @hf0 , raising a $1.7M pre-seed round in December 2024 from HF0 and @fdotinc, before moving to San Francisco — the city I love most.
The entire team relocated to SF in January for HF0. Since then, we’ve 5X’d our revenue, built a re-entry capsule, launched our first spacecraft, and completed our drop and landing tests.
We’ve grown to a 20-person team and begun constructing a new spacecraft manufacturing facility in India.
Today, we’re thrilled to announce our $5.4M seed round, led by @outlandervc , with participation from @ArkaVentureLabs, Lex Reddy, KDX, @scaletogether,
Higher Life Ventures, @NiveshaVentures, Pranatech, Bria, @hf0 and @Techstars.
Thanks to the Almighty for everything and everyone who has believed in us.
This round will help us demonstrate our next-generation re-entry and landing technology, scale our GTM, and execute upcoming missions.
Multiple missions are already lined up — each bringing us closer to making orbital logistics as seamless as air cargo.
We’re not just launching satellites — we’re building the operating system for space logistics.
Time to get back to building, testing, and launching.
The future of space isn’t one-way.
Upmass. Downmass. Infinite possibilities.
Earlier this year, I moved to San Francisco with my brother on a mission to help reindustrialize America.
It was never a doubt in our heads but
some said it sounded crazy and would be hard to pull off without a deeply technical team to begin with.
In that moment what we had to leverage now was our real, hands-on experience from our family business working directly with oil & gas and industrial companies.
With unique insights about the space, me leveling up my technical knowledge, and using modern coding tools and resources at our disposal today, we built prototypes and demos that turned a subsidiary of one of the largest publicly traded oil and gas company in Texas to a paying client.
While sales cycles in this industry can run six months, we closed them in 40 days.
Now with something that is working and has the potential to be a revolutionary company, we had to scale with serious, mature technical leadership. I had to look no further and tap in a close friend of mine who previously worked at Palantir and IBM and had the same drive to join as CTO and lead our technical team and help drive this mission.
Now we have a lot on our plate and are more excited than ever for what’s to come in this journey but the best part is the people we are building this with and who we are building it for to transform the way they operate.
All this happened in the last couple of months while we have been off tech-twitter with our heads down working and getting results with the best team.
More to come down the line
When we onboarded our developers a few months ago, they only knew how to build software.
Today they’re shipping the best enterprise grade systems and understand every supply chain process end to end.
