@sh14265 Hi! I also enjoy classes that make me more knowledgeable in perceiving the world around us, and in this case, the digital world! Hope you have a great rest of your semester! #dcim353McCormick
@stephxwang It clear that there’s a change we can prepare for, and change we can’t. Yet the latter can completely transform, or disrupt, our lifestyles for the better. Good luck for the rest of the semester!! #DCIM353McCORMICK
I’m glad I had the opportunity to take this course. It encouraged me to view the ever changing digital world in a new perspective. I learned more than surface-level information by researching technologies and the weekly readings/lectures.
Good luck on finals!! #DCIM353McCormick
@jillianalexis_@EmmaWatson Emma Watson provides an example of how actions speak louder than words. It's not enough to contribute to a charity. It is important to be active to be a leader. I like the article because it states how she advocates, participates, inspires, and more!
@ericasdinardo@ladygaga Lady Gaga does use her celebrity status to envoke change. She focuses a lot on helping others in need. As well as supporting communities with her foundation, she made a huge effort to raise money during COVID for treatment and vaccine development, further showing her leadership.
Inspired by the birth of her first child, Alba has started an initiative to create safe products that are both good for you and perform well. Honest Company now sells more than 83 products in different categories such as beauty, baby, cleaning, skin care, and more!
@jessicaalba is an example of a celebrity who is also a leader. The actress started her own company, @Honest, which focuses on using organic, non-toxic ingredients in baby products. Now her brand has expanded to other industries as well. https://t.co/d2SoUVJIRU #LIDCF21_91
Technology cannot only be described as good or bad. There are different ways to look at them such as disruptive vs sustaining. Rather then focusing on what’s wrong with a technology, we can see the impact it caused to lifestyles and businesses. #DCIM353McCormick
@stephxwang Hi Steph! I hope social media does become more controlled. It's true that once something is on the net it's there forever. I found out that Instagram has all our previous profile information saved. Everything we do leaves a "print" so it should be protected. #DCIM353McCormick
@Helten_0301 Hi Keer. Although I think you're correct, I do feel like AI cannot be at the same level of intelligence as humans. This is because of emotional intelligence because I don't think what we feel can be exactly replicated by technology. #DCIM353McCORMICK
@StephenReaRU Hi Stephen. I think you're right. Especially now since there are delivery apps for more than just food. If everyone relies on these delivery services, then more businesses will partner with this option to appeal to consumers. #DCIM353McCormick
While Virtual Reality is being implemented in different industries, it will have one of the greatest impacts in entertainment. In the future, it will change the experience of movies, sports competitions & more by immersing the user through visuals and sounds. #DCIM353McCormick
@Helten_0301 AI is so intriguing. As it’s own language, AI presents a new way to preform tasks and will change the way today’s world works. The significance of the change will depend on the fields it will be used in and the accessibility society has to the technology. #DCIM353McCormick
@LisetteShallop Your paper’s topic is really interesting. Social Media can be viewed/researched in a broad perspective but can also be different per person. Seeing how and why it can cause an obsession (ex. mindlessly scrolling) can help understand the impact it has on society #DCIM353McCormick
@stephxwang Social media is a great technology to research. Its subjective to the user and how they perceive/use a platform. In one way, it can increase education while taking away from other skills that are built by in-person experiences if they rely solely on social media #DCIM353McCormick
By replacing some of the processes that we use in today’s world with 3D printing, it can affect the supply chain. Further, it can decrease the need for certain jobs or companies. The speed feature of 3D printing is the main reason it’s changing the way things are done everyday.
For my EDTP project, the technology I chose is 3D printing. I think it will be an interesting topic to look into the pros and cons of what it will change. It has been around for a couple years, but the innovation continues to be developed in different ways. #DCIM353McCormick
It has been successful in the medical field, manufacturing processes, the construction field, and more. For example, you can make prosthetics that are unique to the individual (that work!) for a lot less than before. Even though it has many benefits, it can be disruptive.
@PALLAVI2022 The use of digital technology definitely affects in-person communication. It is hard to have a real conversation because now it's the norm to have them online. At home, we try to limit our phone usage at dinner, but it's hard since we depend on it for so much. #DCIM353McCormick
