A disturbing incident in Kharola village of Renapur tehsil, Maharashtra's Latur district, has sparked outrage after three minor boys were allegedly tied to a farm pole and assaulted by villagers over a suspected theft.

According to reports, the children were accused of stealing wire from a borewell installed in a field.

Instead of handing them over to the police, some villagers allegedly took matters into their own hands and tied the minors to a pole before assaulting them.

A video of the incident surfaced on social media, showing the boys being restrained and allegedly beaten.

The footage has triggered widespread condemnation, with many questioning the act of taking the law into one's own hands, especially when the accused are minors.

Police have taken cognizance of the viral video and launched an investigation.

Renapur Police have registered a case against those allegedly involved in the assault.

A separate case has also been registered against the minors in connection with the suspected theft.

No arrests have been reported so far. Further investigation is underway.

A Muslim shopkeeper alleges that on June 18, a group of people entered his shop, assaulted him, vandalized the premises, shouted communal slogans, and threatened to kill him. Despite a police complaint, no concrete action was taken. He reopened the shop on July 9 following assurances from the Superintendent of Police, but alleges that some individuals returned and declared, "We will not allow a Muslim-owned shop to operate in a Hindu neighborhood." Amidst the ensuing tension, the police had to be called, and the shopkeeper was forced to close his shop once again.
