We've got three bits of good environmental news for you this morning!
First up, @MayorRos has pledged to plant 1million trees in the next 5 years.

We have been given £270k by @WoodlandTrust to create community woodlands in the District.
Sites in Creswell and Bolsover have already been earmarked for the project and more are being looked into.

An exciting new fund to transform local authority action on tree planting and woodland creation. Pleased to have @SheffCouncil and @BolsoverDC in the North of England involved to leave a lasting legacy to future generations. #EmergencyTreeFund#Trees#Woods
If anyone is looking to recruit someone in #marcoms, volunteer/visitor engagement or events management then I can HIGHLY recommend Hazel, who played a transformative role for the Trust at Skipton Castle Woods. 👇👇👇
Luci Ryan of @WoodlandTrust currently giving oral evidence to @CommonsTrans on the importance of HS2's approach to ancient woodland properly reflecting wider government biodiversity commitments including effective management of contractors
Great to hear @ChrisClarksonMP setting out in national tree strategy debate the many public health benefits that will arise from #NorthernForest led by @WoodlandTrust and the Community Forests, emphasising the importance of the right tree in the right place.
The nature & climate crises we face can feel overwhelming, but we can turn things around by action at the lowest level replicated across the country. Inspirational example here from #Cornwall, by @CalstockParish, of what parish councils can achieve: https://t.co/HW9S7RERq4 @NALC
I get REALLY annoyed at the patronising view that Northerners don't care about the environment. It doesn't match my experience at all. Great piece in today's @Telegraph on why the North stands to gain a lot from greening the economy: https://t.co/NJjzkhCt4Z
Important point in here about the North gaining from environmental improvements, not least through the economic and quality of life benefits of the #NorthernForest. Also important that we meet ambitious woodland creation targets by planting in 🏴 and not just the 🏴 Highlands.
Very encouraging to hear of progress towards a Natural History GCSE. Much scope for linking to local environment and sites managed by organisations like @WoodlandTrust https://t.co/16TjpQPtj2
Good to see the Agriculture Bill become the Agriculture Act as of today! Its core principle of public money for public goods so crucial to rewarding land management that tackles the climate and nature crises. Now we need clarity and ambition when it comes to delivery.
