@Scind@juliefairey I spent the last week in the company of a whole lot of fluent Te Reo speakers. Plenty of people speak and understand it. Plenty more aspire to. It's not PC, it's aspirational. And respectful to our nation's peoples.
A plea to my fellow-travellers on the pro-peace, pro-justice, pro-decolonization left: in calling for peace and justice for Palestinians, please don't use the "from the river to the sea" slogan. It is a call for the ethnic cleansing of an indigenous people.
@StrayDogNZ Except "from the river to the sea" is literally calling for ethnic cleansing of Jews, who are indigenous to Israel. You can want peace, dignity and human rights for Palestinians without calling for the genocide of someone else.
By the way, if you can have a conversation about whether or not white australia is racist without ever noticing that you use ‘australia’ to mean ‘white australia’ then the answer is a resounding fucking yes.
@catcontentonly @mariaspnwrites This is so utterly ass-backwards. Hamas deliberately provokes Israel to respond with military force and puts innocent Palestinians in harm's way in order to shore up its own grip on power. Netanyahu does the same. They are mirror images of each other.
Thank you Chris Hipkins, Grant Robertson, and the Labour led Government for all you have done for Aotearoa New Zealand. There were some hard calls made, but the support given to all in what have been some very difficult times has been very much appreciated by this Kiwi.
