A former Special Forces Commando who served alongside Ben Roberts-Smith in Afghanistan has finally broken his silence.
His name is Dean Burgess.
He even speaks of the unwritten code of the “quiet professionals” and says he would feel like a traitor to the Brotherhood if he stayed silent any longer.
He describes the brutal truth our soldiers faced: an enemy with zero rules who hid behind women and children, used them as human shields, and laughed at our rules of engagement. Our troops were sent into that nightmare again and again under impossible restrictions.
Yet now the government is running a witch-hunt against the very men they ordered into that hell.
Stuff 'em, I am speaking out.
This gutless Labor government dragged our Victoria Cross hero off a plane in front of his kids, arrested him like a terrorist and locked him in Silverwater with the very terrorists he was sent to fight.
What happens in war stays in war, it's always been an unwritten code of honour by professionals who fought and some gave their live to protect us. You do not spend hundreds of millions crucifying soldiers for doing the job you sent them to do.
We still inflict our famous & stupid Australian Tall Poppy Syndrome on our own war heroes while bending over for every ideology we are too weak to name.
In 1980 Lee Kuan Yew was right when he warned us we would become the "poor white trash of Asia". Well Australia, it's Mission Accomplished. All gift-wrapped and paid for by taxpayers too gormless or apathetic to stop it.
At long last Australia is finally waking up. The rage is building. And we're not taking this anymore.
If you are reading this and feel the same way but can only say it in private, then WTFU, it's high time to grow a spine and start saying it publicly. For goodness sake stop hiding in the shadows whispering like controlled cowards.

Noting the War Memorial wading into the Ben Roberts Smith case ... I wrote this before Christmas 2024 when this caper was starting & what it portended for a whole generation of Middle East veterans - and their families @AWMemorial
There was no stopping ex US Navy Seal Mike Sarraille who called for the release of war hero Ben Roberts-Smith after his live interview had been wrapped up 💥💥💥
Explaining that soldiers operate in shades of grey and sometimes civilians do end up in the line of fire.
‘Free Ben Roberts-Smith. Thank you.’
Sunrise has edited this out on their official YouTube page.
Can’t have the truth getting in the way of the Narrative they want to spin.
For years, the leftist mindset has seen Jews as possessors of “white privilege” and Israel as an exemplar of “settler colonialism” and therefore as “oppressors” – hence the absurdity of “Queers for Palestine” and the insistence, even from ministers in the Albanese government, that October 7 should be seen “in context”.
What else can explain the government’s increasingly harsh denunciations of Israel, its alacrity in issuing visas to largely unvetted people from Gaza, its secret repatriation of “ISIS brides”, and its recognition of Palestine in a massive concession to the “river to the sea” protesters?
The basic problem with the Albanese government is the leftist instincts that constantly distort its moral lens.

My friend and former colleague @JoshFrydenberg spoke bravely and passionately this week. My article published in the WSJ reflects Josh’s sentiments and highlights the urgent need to take action to counter anti-semitic extreme Islamist radicalisation in Australia. If these things cannot be said now, then when can they be said. More importantly they must lead to concrete action. The appalling attacks must create the ability to challenge the mindsets and denial that has frustrated action on this issue for so long.

Given the response, I am lifting my column out of the paywall… 1/2
This evil is driven by envy
In the context of the Bondi tragedy, let me start by saying that Australia is not the country I once knew. The Australia I remember during my youth bears little resemblance to the nation that now exists.
I am not sure you can even describe us as a nation – we are more like a heterogeneous agglomeration of vested and frequently colliding interests.
I think there is a fair case to be made that we have traded away our soul. There is no cohesive national identity. There was, once upon a time, a demonstrably visible national character. We knew what it was to be Australian.
We loved our country. Our flag. Our history. Our entrepreneurial and iconoclastic verve. Our disdain of centralised authority. Our willingness to give every person a fair go. Our characteristically intense competitive streak. And our eccentric and larrikin heroes. From Don Bradman to Kerry Packer.
But today it is difficult to discern a unifying crusade or common community. There are, to be sure, redoubts here and there. But across this sunburnt land we have emerged as a nation divided.
Many will claim that their vision of Australia best represents a universal mission. That they know the true Australia. And that there is a silent majority that agrees with them.
But I do not see it. Right now, Australia is a battlefield bloodied by conflicting interests, which this column belaboured seven days ago.
The lucky country has become the lazy land, spoilt by endless resource riches and the seemingly bottomless pit of public money that this has bestowed.
Our wealth has been relentlessly wasted on pet political projects that serve only to perpetuate the reign of those in power. Financially corrupt the voters to win the next election and then rinse and repeat. Until the money runs out.
Australia has become obsessed with the public sector providing answers to its problems. Obsessed with centralised control. Remember the world’s worst lockdowns? Obsessed with censorship: eviscerate parental responsibilities and ban children from access to the internet.
Obsessed with revisionism. We don't even give our kids an opportunity to learn from our historical wins and losses. It is airbrushed in the name of trying to create an alternative political reality.
Obsessed with cutting down tall poppies. That is, we don't just want equality of opportunity, which is a crucial ideal—we increasingly seek equality of outcomes.
A huge amount of the secular racial prejudice projected against Judaism by other creeds and cultures can be attributed to the fact that the Jews have been consistently one of the most successful communities in the countries they have lived in.
The intelligence, innovation, and unmatched professional intensity that Judaism nurtures has been a persistent source of envy and polarisation for as long as the faith has existed.
Whatever academic pursuit or vocation you inspect, you will find Jews dominating. This is true by design because the community defines itself through a purity of purpose that advocates intellectual and professional excellence.
It is a self-selection process that attracts and spawns world-class talent. Yet in a society where you are constantly seeking to manipulate and sate the masses, the ever-tempting reflex is to focus on persecuting the difficult-to-understand anomalies. The exceptions. Those that rank in the 99th percentile. Accordingly, we fall back on handicapping success.
We want to regress everyone back to the mean to create an egalitarian world. The Jews are to blame. It’s the "great vampire squid wrapped around the face of humanity" as Goldman Sachs was once described. Of course, Goldman was founded as a Jewish partnership. Cont’d 1/2 https://t.co/7jgwpw42SM
The English Cricket team visited an orphanage in Adelaide today.
"It was heartbreaking to see their sad little faces with no hope", said James, aged 6.
STATEMENT
Today is an extremely dark day for our nation, particularly the Australian Jewish community, which appears to be the target of this terrorist attack.
The Prime Minister never heeded the warning signs, including the weekly anti-semitic protests across our nation, hate speech from certain religious clerics, our obnoxious universities and probable terrorist alert.
I stand with Australia’s Jewish community, who tonight deserve our absolute solace. You have the same right to live in peace and harmony as all Australians.
Authorities must be honest when revealing the identities and backgrounds of these murderers.

We are demanding a full retraction and public apology from the ABC.
Last night on 7.30, the ABC deliberately misrepresented our report that led to the National Party abandoning Net Zero in an attempt to discredit our thorough research into the Australian energy market, net zero policies, and their effects on households, businesses and our environment.
Our paper, Delivering a High Energy Australia, is a meticulous, evidence-based discussion paper built on more than 160 detailed references. It lays out, in full, how Net Zero is driving up energy prices, crippling Australian industry - and what we can do about it.
But instead of engaging with the facts, the ABC tried to smear our work by claiming that our modelling came from Coal Australia. This is blatantly false.
Our energy numbers both in this report, and the report we released earlier in the year have come from analysis of a number of sources, including but not limited to; the CSIRO, CIS, AEMO, Australian Energy Regulator, Australian Bureau of Statistics, DCCEEW, Net Zero Australia, Arche Energy, Adept Economics, the World Bank and the International Energy Agency.
It also contained our own internal calculations based on publicly available data, and this too was made clear in both the body of the report and in the footnotes.
The modelling Coal Australia commissioned from Clean Energy advisory firm Arche Energy merely reinforced our earlier findings, which is why we cited the work as an additional, supplementary reference in the report.
And the ABC knew this. Before going to air, they reached out to us for clarification, and we made this clear. Yet despite knowing the truth, they ran the false claim anyway, and in doing so they knowingly misleading their audience to cast doubt on legitimate research.
The ABC needs to be held accountable.
We’ve demanded a full retraction and apology. Australians deserve to hear the truth, not taxpayer-funded lies designed to undermine real, legitimate research.

@hughriminton Interesting. Thanks for sharing. For a complete picture this data should be compared to the population. Age trend looks directionally correct but seems a bit labor biased.
