Awesome work by @ciddpsu member @EmilyHowerton6 and others of the #COVID19 Scenario Modeling Hub to visualize potential timing of peak cases across U.S. for #omicron scenarios.

The big question on everyone's mind is "when will the omicron wave peak". Across scenarios, the average projected peak time across models is this week or the next. Several states are projected to have later peaks, none later than mid-February. (2/7)
The latest round of #COVID19 Scenario Modeling Hub results are out. This "emergency" round is a multi-team effort to produce planning scenarios for the US Omicron wave (1/9) [original tweet deleted due to wrong link]

@pedrolima_n #Omicron certainly presents a lot of opportunities for scenario modeling. There are still so many sources of uncertainty - makes it hard to pick which topics to focus on.
The application is now open for the 10th annual Clinic on Dynamical Approaches to Infectious Disease Data (DAIDD 2021 ~ Virtual edition ~ 12-18 December)
Application deadline: 4 November

Great to see and hear related coverage from NPR involving @JustinLessler and a quick quote from @nataliexdean. Additional info in the story about why our results support cautious optimism, particularly at the national-level over the next few months. (2/3)

Scenario projections from multiple teams suggest the US will see decreasing cases through March. Vax of 5-11yos accelerates this trend and increase resilience. As always, there is nuance...(1/4)
A very serious situation is unfolding in Florida. Every age group is seeing highest-ever rate of hospitalizations, including a precipitous spike in younger adults. Cases continue to rise, which means hospitalizations will as well. https://t.co/7LcJ71BFlD
We know vaccines reduce your risk of infection, but they aren't *perfect.* Then what fraction of transmission in the population is from the vaccinated? How might this change with new variants?
In the thread below, I share a mental model with worked examples. 1/11
Substantial COVID-19 resurgences expected across the US due to the Delta variant in the latest Round 7 projections from the https://t.co/h8YPeyJ5FG. We are currently tracking on scenario D: low vaccination saturation and high variant transmissibility.
Strategic sampling designs & analytics can maximize the info gained by #COVID19 testing programs and improve population-level decisions, while maintaining the value of these programs for patient-level management. James Nichols @tiffbogich &co #PLOSBiology https://t.co/IJwbHJ8G8s
A text from a colleague: "Ok how on earth has Twitter decided that we know VE against variants?" 🤔
Twitter does love certainty! But better to think about VE against variants in terms of likely ranges rather than precise estimates. So how do make these assessments? A thread.
Models can do more than forecast. Matt Biggerstaff from CDC talking about the Scenario Modeling Hub in @NSF_PREPARE data workshop. Proud to be part of the @UVA_BI team contributing this multi-model effort.
Over the past day or so, you may have read news articles like the one below, which describe how US could avoid another "wave" with high levels of vaccinations and moderate use of other preventive measures. For those wondering, how this is done...
Here's a quick tweetorial. 1/24
Braves will offer COVID-19 vaccine shots at games Friday and Saturday. So excited to see this partnership between @Braves & @emoryhealthcare to administer #Covidvaccines at @TruistPark @ajc https://t.co/7ryjpvj1L9
First multi-model effort to project long-term trajectories of COVID-19 in real-time in the United States under different epidemiologic scenarios has been reported today in the @CDCMMWR
Large scale effort with a wonderful group of colleagues.

CDC director Dr. Rochelle Walensky @CDCDirector said today that the these “results remind us that we have a path out of this and models, once predicting grim news, now offer reasons to be quite hopeful for what the summer may bring,"
