And yes
This work is hard sometimes
& exhausting
but a river of awesome runs through it
It does
No, not in the "like totally" way
but in the way that evokes a real, true feeling
of wonder & magic
And still
after all this time
I am in awe
Still, I am.

I ran from a mass shooting today with my two little girls in my arms. We got separated from my wife. We hid behind a car and then sheltered in the apartment of some good Samaritans for 5 hours watching swat teams from the windows. We are all ok but we’re angry, very very angry.
No one tells you that residency is impossible.
Like that it’s literally physically impossible to: excel clinically *and* rest adequately *and* maintain all your relationships *and* get published *and* do everything you can for patients *and* have work/life boundaries *and*
@DrKrisMD You got this! You are going to be an incredible Obgyn. And on the days that are really rough, just remember how much you fought to get here. It helps me a bunch to remind myself how bad I wanted this and how blessed i am to practice medicine everyday
@DrKrisMD To myself. You got this. You BELONG! Don’t let imposter syndrome win. When you start spiraling, notice it, stop and say something nice about yourself. Also feel free to PM me or others for extra support!
@DrKrisMD This happened to me too, I didn’t get into med school the first time, and the second time only off the wait list on 4/29. I thought I was applying a third time. I had a lot of traumatic life things during early 2nf year and did poorly on step 1. I did well in 3rd year ½
@DrKrisMD And did well on step 2. When I matched a top 10 IM program I was ecstatic but I had SO much imposter syndrome and it really held me back my intern year. Toward the end of pgy-1 I started to realize the only one thinking badly of me was ME and i needed to stop talking badly
