Display surface tech is going the way of the printer. Soon you’ll need a subscription to turn on 4k. We desperately need a Framework of display technologies, fully open source drivers and decoders. This race for margin is going to destroy consumer rights like it did for printers.

Update: We are working on a follow-up to the LG story and have some disturbing findings re: LG's products. It will take us a while to parse everything and we have involved multiple security researchers, lawyers (working on reading around 40,000 words of LG agreements that are, generally, terrifying in scope), and network experts, but will have an update for you all as soon as we can finalize collecting all of the information and parsing. There is a lot for us to crawl through (and I'm also already up to thousands of dollars in LG product purchases, but each one peels back another layer of the enshittified onion). This will be a fairly large research piece and will take time, but is also the worst I've seen so far in this 'genre' of product and agreements.

Say what you want about AI, the chatbot mode of information retrieval is so much better than enshittified clickslop that 20 years of SEO have produced. I get the answer directly instead of having to click and scroll, get bombarded with ads. Primary source web is ruined.

We’re currently in Clemson, South Carolina. I’ve decided to come back here to document the final part of our road trip.

The main reason I deactivated my account two weeks ago was that things became increasingly toxic. For some people, it’s unfortunately unfathomable that a good story can exist without some kind of hidden agenda behind it. There was even a Reddit group going through my entire account trying to find anything they could use to reveal my identity.

I know this was only a small percentage of people, but after a while it became exhausting. During the last two weeks, I received so many kind messages on Instagram, and they really made me realize how many people genuinely enjoyed following the trip. Some people even told me that their grandparents regularly ask them, “What are the Germans up to today?” I think that’s really cool.

I decided to continue because I realized that the overwhelming majority of people loved following along. A small group of very loud people shouldn’t be able to ruin something that brought so many others joy.

I also want to clear something up, as people who follow me on Instagram already know.

I’ve been to the United States before. This is not my first visit, and I’ve never claimed that it was. The last time I was here was in January 2022, when I visited New York and Philadelphia.

A lot of people shared my Raising Cane’s post from November 2025 to make it look like I was secretly American. That post wasn’t from the United States, it was from my trip to Saudi Arabia.

This is my first time back in the U.S. in more than four years, and apart from Boston, I’d never visited any of the places we’ve been to on this trip before. That’s probably why many people assumed it was our first time in America, because for all of these places, it actually was.

And let me tell you, Ohio and Alabama are very different from New York City or Los Angeles.

@FreddyLA7 i travel quite a bit for work and yeah, you don't want to hinge your trip on a small town being 100% reliable to fulfill your needs esp at off-hours or critical times. Cities with huge, 24/7 multinational airports are your anchor points for reliably moving around the US.

@0xSero Would be interested to know more about your stack for this. Even opus struggles to wrangle providers, service/config mgmt, mounts, etc in my setup. I’ve moved from direct downloads to debrid tho, maybe it’s just too new for the models. Not a lot of existing lit in the corpus…

@TheAhmadOsman Don’t expose your infra. Even if it’s wg. Firewall everything, hide behind NAT. Outbound connections only. It’s not that ts or cf provide the capability, it’s that they provide the secure, managed tunnel infrastructure that you’d otherwise have to (poorly) manage yourself.

you forgot about the mental model of a majority of the suburbanoids that go to the complex:
1. drive as close as possible, ideally to the front door of the venue
2. city bad/dangerous/unclean
3. walking is bad/hard
3. public transit is bad (see above)
4. driving is good

The ONLY way to fix traffic around the stadiums is by funding, improving, and expanding SEPTA. Expanding highway will make it WORSE! Building dense housing in and around the stadium district will also help since those fans can just walk.
