Life update: This week I started my next adventure at Facebook! I’ll be joining the team to help lead development of the iOS platform for FB, IG, WhatsApp, Messenger. It’s an amazing opportunity and luckily just a few miles away which means a lot more time with family 🙂
Frustrated with @Delta flight to CLE with a connection at MSP. First flight was delayed but landed before my second flight departed.@Delta auto-rebooked while on the first flight to the next morning causing my family an overnight stay and @Delta refused to cover any expenses
If you have friends working at Meta, check in on them.
I'm spending the morning comforting friends and colleagues. A few of my reports are affected directly (fortunately I am not), but the rest of us are affected indirectly. Disheartening times.
Without working @Twitter, it’s so obvious that the people there made that place and loved it. The thing I haven’t seen discussed enough is the culture change. If you work at Tesla/SpaceX you signed up for this working style, leader, etc., Twitter employees didn’t sign up for this
Great things are created by great cultures where people are energized and motivated by what they’re building. Often this leads to folks working when they don’t need to but the difference is that it’s their choice, not a work death-march towards an arbitrary deadline to deliver
🧵 There’s a lot of discussion around Twitter verification right now, aka the “Blue Check”.
I am going to dump some brief thoughts about the Blue Check. I think they are relevant and cover nuances frequently overlooked.

This. If you have a culture widely known for rest-and-vest it’s likely more of a sign of bad managers that can’t manage performance level expectations in the first place.
@PaolaNotPaolo Yeah ultimately I think you end up settling on some sort of “core hours” with your team / XFN partners to specify an overlapping period where everyone agrees to be present / available for meetings.
