The Cooperative also received training on milking handling & hygiene, value addition, market linkages, financial management & governance.

@EUinKenya @VSFSuisse The initiative is expected to strengthen drought resilience through commercialisation of camel milk for increased household income. It is also aligned with the Government's bottom-up economic transformation model.

@EUinKenya @VSFSuisse The women-led Cooperative collects, processes and sells camel milk products in Isiolo County and beyond. The plant is expected to strengthen the camel milk value chain by increasing the volume of processed milk, reducing wastage and operational costs, and improving market access.

The plant is a partnership under which the Cooperative has provided land while the County Government gives technical oversight. With funding from @EUinKenya, NDMA is supporting construction of the dairy plant while @VSFSuisse will supply and install the requisite dairy equipment.

Camels are reliable milk producers during dry seasons when milk from cattle, sheep and goats is scarce. @NDMA_Kenya CEO @HaredAHassan visited Anolei Women Camel Milk Cooperative and witnessed the start of construction of a dairy processing plant at Bulapesa Ward, Isiolo County.
