Cheltenham. Active travel. Utility cycling. NArch. Between bridges of Enniskillen. Quasi-ethical consumer. Anti growth coalition. Runs a bit. Opinions are own.
@mrpotholeuk@BenGrahamUK A lot of potholes occur from poorly reinstated utility trenches. For some trench work, whole sections of highway should be reinstated. With smaller trenches, the company responsible should be held responsible for the area of repair to ensure it holds up to load for a few seasons.
Another yellow Lego life raft has surfaced after nearly 29 years at the bottom of the sea. Back in 1997, 28,700 of these plummeted into the ocean when a shipping container with nearly five million pieces of Lego inside fell off the cargo ship Tokio Express, some 20 miles off Land's End, UK. Relatively few of these life rafts have been reported - most are thought to be still lying on the seabed.
@Teslalightshows@GOVUK@TeslaJigsaw@TeslaOwnersUK I think it's good to tax per mile, but for fairness it should be based on the weight of vehicle. However, why am I paying tax for miles I do on french roads? Guess it's too complicated otherwise.
Pale Blue Dot is a photo of Earth that was taken by the Voyager 1 space probe in 1990 from a distance of about 6 billion kilometers (3.7 billion miles) as it was leaving our solar system. This is what Carl Sagan said about the photo:
"Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it, everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor, and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every 'superstar,' every 'supreme leader,' every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there โ on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam.
The Earth is the only world known so far to harbor life. There is nowhere else, at least in the near future, to which our species could migrate. Visit, yes. Settle, not yet. Like it or not, for the moment the Earth is where we make our stand. It has been said that astronomy is a humbling and character-building experience. There is perhaps no better demonstration of the folly of human conceits than this distant image of our tiny world. To me, it underscores our responsibility to deal more kindly with one another, and to preserve and cherish the pale blue dot, the only home we've ever known.โ

A lot has changed since 2015.
People were shocked at first but now weโre celebrated all over the world for our amazing vegan food.
We donโt need pledges or promises. We need action.
Just get on with it. ๐

IMHO the driver is clearly on two devices; but it's another NFA from Gloucestershire Police. Hope the driver can cure themselves before crashing into a vehicle or person.
At least they now have valid VED/tax.
@CyclingInASkirt Michael, I can only add to the outpouring of love for Helen, who has shone a bright light on the tribulations of cycling and so obviously has the biggest of hearts.
@ConstableChaos Wobbegong, no "L"; although I prefer "Wobblegong".
They are a species of shark. I learnt about them a few days ago when my 9yo son identified one from a photo (he wants to be a shark expert).
Itโs #BlackFriday. The day (or week, or month) when prices are slashed and hyper-consumerism goes into overdrive. Many other lists will detail the best discounts on offer, but here we examine the monumental environmental costs to the planet.

@chrismclean124@NathanEvanss Hopefully some family-friendly venues or festival appearances on the back of the album and sold-out gigs so your wee girl and my 9yo boy can get to see Nathan. He was bouncing off the walls this morning, listening to the new tunes ๐ง
A thread...
With the ongoing terrible situation in Valencia, there are many images of โcar imbrication' appearing on Social Media with people claiming that this is the same process as that seen in sedimentary particles. (1/6)
