I am often asked what my favourite math puzzle is. It's the wordless one below. This video explains why it is my favourite https://t.co/zC4NZcFxzE. Have you a formative math moment?
My Teacher Wish List:
- Higher pay so we don’t have to work extra jobs.
- Smaller class sizes so we can build strong relationships.
- More funding for supplies so we don’t have to spend our own money.
- To be respected, valued and supported like we deserve to be.
I don't know about you, but every faculty member and student I've spoken with this week is completely burnt out. It's not even the end of September. What are we doing? How do we make this less ... whatever it is?
Teachers who are doing a hybrid model are now doing twice the work, twice the teaching and have to spend even more $ on supplies.
Name another profession that is doing twice the work they are contracted to do but not getting overtime pay?
Your students do not need a personalized response to their email about an assignment at 11pm.
Save your sanity: set up an autoresponder in your email with answers to common questions. Update weekly. Here's one of mine from last year: https://t.co/XccJmZRJC8

I'm excited that this announcement is out! "Supermath" looks at how people use math to solve social problems-sometimes in problematic ways. Math is a human project. Our fingerprints are all over it. For better and for worse. Once we know, maybe we can do something about it.
