@KnightRustyArm @James_BG 2012 or not, its too low anyway. all the results contained in the CFD are all done based on 2012 figures anyway, and tracking historic bid as well as what the average wholesale power price was at the time, there is no defending the strike price is pitiful and not fit for purpose.

@cashandcarrots @MaxCRoser It is of course possible with changed infrastructure and changed diet but at the moment, no london would not be able to eat local, all cities are a net sink for resource, due to density. Of course you can with changed and heavily reduced diet variety

@cashandcarrots @MaxCRoser That just isnt the case when you scale it out to everyone, they did a recent study of lond9n in particular (hold for link). And it doesnt reduce carbon as the distance for packaging feed and local transport (cars, vans) are so much more inefficient for carbon vs shipping.

@philip_crawford @dwmiller88 @MaxCRoser The reality is regardless of the farming, if anyt farming practice is used, red meat will always be more carbon intensive, its just logic. it essentially the same reason petrol cars are inefficient, you have to change the state of something to then get energy out of it.

In fact Ill go one further. most products we eat in the UK aren't native and we have very carbon rich soil, so in cases food from other countries in the right climate is better

You can buy local but buy local, low carbon food by changing diet too. Why would you want business to survive that isnt sustainable/cost effective?

@NatureFoodJnl It seems like there is something (or a range of things) in their model which inflates all estimates of freight emissions.

They're just way too high.

If this is the case it undermines the entire output of the work.
