@markgurman Mark, that wild take is not so wild when you look outside the US - Apple has historically lowered prices for new product cycles when FX is favorable – even for iPhone. They want maximum sales at good margin, not maximum margin.
@JulienChieze Il y a la concurrence. Jeux mobiles, Nintendo/Sony, PC/Steam, VR/arcade/retro. Les joueurs disposent de nombreuses options. Prise en étau entre Sony et le PC, le problème pour Xbox c'est que la console ne s'adresse ni au grand public ni aux joueurs «hardcore».
@neilcybart@handleym99 Reasons to be skeptical:
1. TV app solves a distribution problem which doesn’t exist due to sector consolidation
2. TV+ sells quality to a market valuing accessibility and variety
3. Apple needs to control key tech to attract best content, not control content to have best product
@neilcybart To have more success TV+ needs a strong matket positioning. That is difficult to do as all niches in the very crowded market have already been taken - the “free” / kids and family / event / mainstream / non-scripted.
@neilcybart TV+ has some great shows but neither the event entertainment of Max/HBO (House of Dragon, Last of Us, Penguin, upcoming Harry Potter) nor the mainstream appeal/variety of Netflix. It’s been caught in the middle as an HBO lite and better marketing won’t help.
@jammasternate People in rural areas are less likely to be brainwashed as they rely more on experience, intuition, and common sense. They believe their own eyes. Urban voters turn to their education and mainstream media while underestimating or downright being unaware how manipulated it is.
@0xblindside@neilcybart Very true. Also interesting how human rights are selectively used to leverage one’s business model. Musk will talk up independent journalism and free speech while for Cook human rights seem not to extend beyond privacy - X is to be monitored (CBS interview) and not advertised on.
@markgurman There is no changing the game. The smartphone is all about design simplicity. The foldable smartphone breaks it. There will never be a foldable iPhone. Let it go, the market has already done so.
@neilcybart More and more warning signs as to where our society is headed. It’s time to pull back on urbanization, materialism, technology, and liberalism. Of course, this is as to tell a workoholic to work less. An inevitable heart attack and value reset is coming.
@gruber Gun violence in the US is a by-product of American values. You just cannot have a cake and eat it. Just as Europe cannot replicate Silicon Valley and US wealth, you cannot have Europe’s safety in a high-pressure, hyper-capitalistic society.
@gruber John, you need to spend some time in Europe, go for a few months. You will experience values and lifestyles which lead to less societal and peer pressure, less inequality, less poverty, more family time and as a result less gun violence. It’s not about the laws.
@bludr Spoluzak na zakladce mel na zacatku 80. let cerny Sony Hit-Bit. Skvely design a super hry co si pamatuji dodnes: Fruit Panic, Athletic Land, Pipols. Co hra to hit!
