@mcsquared34 He or she probably took out a loan to purchase the property. Your rent was raised to pay the costs of the loan. So in reality, you are financing his purchase of the property.

@VickiMDonovan@WallStreetApes Not the same. I finished my MS degree with no student loans, started at over $36k per year, rented a 3 BR house a short drive from the beach for $500 per month, about 35 years ago. I had plenty of money to save to buy my first house a few years later.
