A lucky traveler in Mongolia can stumble upon an amazing archaeological site like this by chance.

Unlike the famous sites like Karakorum, many such contexts are known only to locals and (some) archaeologists.

It’s #MedievalMonday! Time to visit new excavations of the Mongolian-German project @dai_weltweit/#kaak_dai at the summer palace of a Mongol Khan in Orkhon Valley (c. 13th cent. AD). Masses of glazed tiles point to representational buildings. Getting there + back was interesting.
