Milgis Lagaa!
Arguably the largest seasonal river in Kenya.
It's so wide! In this photo, 13 4x4s are not even covering half of its width!
It rises from Kirisia Forest & terminals in Kaisut Desert. It also separates Matthews Range & the Ndoto mountains.
It starts with a date. You see her approaching, she’s in a racy minidress that exposes most of her skin and accentuates her curves. You paint an imaginary bull’s eye somewhere on her hips as she sashays to your table.
“Hi,” she sings while sitting and tacking a long braid behind her ear while searching to see what kind of guy you are.
“Are you ready to order?” The waiter interrupts.
You order a lager and she orders wine and a carrot cake. The waiter says they’re out of carrot cakes and she smiles and orders a red velvet instead.
“You have a beautiful smile," you exclaim after the waiter leaves. She smiles again and this time you notice her dimples. “Thank you,” she responds.
Seriously that voice should be my ring-back tone, you think to yourself.
“Where did you buy it? My EX could use a smile like that,” you tease her.
This time she laughs loudly and hits your arm. “So you’re single?” she asks after biting a slice of red velvet, her manner now comfortable with you.
“Depends who is asking,” you say mischievously.
“I’m asking.” Cream gets smudged on her lower lip and she licks it and you already know what your answer is.
You find yourselves at your place. She’s seated on the couch and her racy minidress has climbed up. You look at her and look around your house and the closest thing you have to rubber is a pair of Converse shoes. You look at her again and she bites her lower lip which is now your Achilles heel. She calls you to her with her index finger and you say, ‘Valar Morghulis’ all men must die.
Three months later you’re in the hospital for your routine checkup, trying to convince yourself that she was too smart and pretty to have been a carrier of anything. You’re sweating and swearing to God that if he saves you this once you will wait till marriage.
“Is everything okay doc?” You ask panicked to the man who just walked in, wearing a lab coat.
“Everything seems fine, just a cold and that should clear in a few days.”
“Really,”—you say unbelieving—”nothing at all?”
“Yes,”—he opens his folder again—”all the tests say that you’re healthy.”
You thank him profusely and remove your phone as you exit the hospital. You tap her contacts and you text her,
“Hi, stranger?”
Dear men, when you feel like the world is against you or things are not working out, get out. Get a car or a bike or borrow one from a friend or even hire one & take off. Find somewhere scenic, somewhere wild.
Nothing prepares you for this view as you approach L.Turkana….magnificent green water that’s so beautiful to see 😍. Even my little people were finally happy to see the water #upNorth#pointandgobeyond
