If a principal at a school asks for a simple improvement like daylighting or a crosswalk painted DO IT!!! The amount of runaround @PBOTinfo staff gives principals is insane. They don't care what the MUTCD says. These people are running entire schools!! Help them out.

@davebinnig Right. We need to UGB because initial subsidies (highways) were made, and sprawl makes it worse. Expansion can never pay, the land value will never generate the taxes needed to serve the area.

@StephCycle @LocomotiveLib The white ones in that image were $10 on Amazon (they may have gone back up to $20). All the 'portable bubble machines' are pretty similar. Best money we've ever spent. (I was leading the other Glencoe bike bus route this day but you can see me in the road at the end)

But this is a $60m handout on a dead project and I'm wondering if that's going to predominantly white firms while ODOT turns otherwise-aligned groups on each other over project funds. I hope not- I hope the entire process has been equitable- but I have reasons to be skeptical.

Question for @nomorefreeways and @CityObs, about the I5RQ expansion. Is there an estimate of how much of the $60m for 'design' work is going to black-owned firms? We hear endlessly about how this $2b boondoggle will go to construction jobs. /

@CoachBalto @AnAirplant @yfreemark Whereabouts in the US (I assume) are you located? it's definitely harder and easier in some places. In Portland I think we're a couple years from rapid change, barring a backslide. In others, it'll be longer

@CoachBalto @AnAirplant @yfreemark All the change we're looking for feels way too incremental as we do it, and it is, but we need to keep doing whatever incremental thing we can. Even if it's just adding one Bike Bus rider each week. Eventually you have legitimacy and effectiveness and success.
