IBA called UFBU for talks on 04.09.2026 after the strike notice..
Don’t go there for tea and “positive response.”
No compromise.
15 lakh bankers’ dignity is at stake.
Priority order, no dilution:
Equality first — Equal PLI for ALL scales. Stop 5% taking 95%.
5-Day Banking — written, dated, implemented. Residual issue since last BPS is over..
No sale of any PSB. Not IDBI, not next one. Public banks are not for auction.
IBA is only a broker. Talk to DFS if needed. Sign nothing without all three in writing.

No more all-India mega-mergers.
One public sector bank for each state. Branches first. Balance sheet later.
Last 10 years: PSB branches frozen.
Next 10 years: the same freeze, with a new merger sticker.
Staff in the big surviving bank may get more benefits than in a small one. The public will still pay the price.
If small PSBs are “not required,” close the NBFCs and Small Finance Banks too. Why should the poor pay more?
Demand: each state, one full PSB ,
with real branch growth.
Not 12 banks crushed into 4 while NBFCs and SFBs take the retail loans.
Public banking is not a logo. It is a counter in every district.

An agreement must be honoured. A reward system must be fair.
#5DayWeekandFairPLI
The 5 Day Work Week for bank employees was agreed in the Bipartite Settlement of March 2024. Its implementation cannot remain pending indefinitely.
At the same time, a unilateral and discriminatory PLI framework that divides the workforce must give way to a fair, transparent and inclusive system for all employees.
Every achievement of our banks is the outcome of collective effort.
Recognition too must reflect that collective contribution.
We seek no privilege, only implementation of an agreed commitment, equality in reward and dignity at work.
@PMOIndia
This quarter-end, PSBs can’t dress up last-minute numbers.
That will expose the usual CASA and credit adjustments.
No more cover for manipulations
that give a massive incentive to just the top 1%. no more cookedup PLI ..

Don’t give gyan to Bankers that write-off stays in the books.
We are not fools.
After write-off, the favoured dogs get fed.
₹22,006 cr dues. ₹6.5 cr settlement.
That is the book.

Bankers are angry with FM Sitharaman. They say - She openly defamed PSU Banks by saying that Youth choose private banks over PSU banks and PSU Banks give image of Govt Bank. The way she said this in video is like mocking PSU Banks. Is a govt organisation bad? Petroleum minister never says IOCL, BPCL is bad. Health minister never says Govt hospitals are bad. But Finance Minister regularly says PSU banks need improvement.

PSU Banks Need to Be Cool? First Look at the Numbers.
PSBs handle 168 crore+ deposit accounts and 100 crore+ loan accounts** with just 4.3 lakh officers and 2.5 lakh clerical staff. In that also 10% elite group scle Iv and above leave it ..
Private banks manage only around 34 crore accounts — yet employ nearly 7.8 lakh people**, backed by armies of DSAs, recovery agents, sales teams and outsourced staff.
This is the reality before any talk of becoming “cool”.
Madam Finance Minister,
You have asked Public Sector Banks to shed the image of a traditional government bank and become simple, intuitive, personalised, 24×7 and digital-first so that the next generation finds them “cool”.
But how does a bank look cool when its branches are chronically understaffed?
Every day, the same limited workforce is expected to handle deposits, loans, recovery, compliance, audit, KYC, government schemes and customer grievances — while being chased for insurance and third-party product targets. “How much insurance today?” is the constant question, even as the counters overflow.
Where is the accountability of senior executives? Private banks aggressively chase salary accounts and large institutional relationships. Many PSB branch employees are left to generate business without enough people on the ground.
Even basic infrastructure needs honest scrutiny. Visit a crowded rural branch on pension day or an understaffed urban branch at month-end without prior notice. Look at the customer ambience, toilets, furniture, cleanliness and housekeeping. In many places, permanent sub-staff arrangements have vanished. Several training centres and residential facilities lag behind ordinary commercial lodges.
Technology alone will not make PSBs cool.
A new app will not compensate for an exhausted employee.
A redesigned branch will not help if there aren’t enough people behind the counters.
An insurance dashboard will not create customer loyalty.
Motivational speeches cannot repair an organisation where young bankers themselves are growing frustrated.
So the message from the PSB Conclave must also travel the other way:
- Give branches adequate officers, clerks and sub-staff.
- Make senior executives accountable for bringing institutional and corporate business.
- Fix branch infrastructure and restore proper housekeeping.
- Improve training centres and staff facilities.
- Stop measuring banking primarily through daily insurance calls and endless dashboards.
- Give employees time to talk to customers and protect their work-life balance.
Profitability matters. Efficiency matters. Technology is essential.
But none of these gives any institution the right to burn out its officers in the name of transformation.
Before asking PSBs to become cool for the next generation of customers, make them places where the next generation of bankers actually wants to work.
That would be real reform.
