"The single most important thing for anybody wanting to break into any industry is go to the headquarters or cluster of that industry. Move to wherever that thing is. And all the advice that you can do anything from anywhere and everything's remote is all BS. With AI, 91 percent of private technology market cap is in the Bay Area. Ninety-one percent of the entire global set of AI market cap is all in one 10 by 10 area."

Hot take:
Vibe coding doesn’t (fully) replace thinking.
It replaces hard core, coalface coding.
If you want it to actually work, you still need:
- Deep understanding of what the market wants
- A clear user experience (not just “it works”)
- Real UI design with proper affordances
- Backend + infrastructure that can scale
- Security that won’t bite you later
- A plan for distribution
Vibe coding replaces the old dev bottleneck.
It doesn’t replace product, strategy, or execution.
What do you think @garrytan?
I can't believe that with all these vibe coding tools, a dev still quoted me $15,000 and four months to build me an app. I built an MVP that same weekend on Lovable for $100. The bigger question: if anyone can build now, what comes next?

I came back to code because AI made it possible for me to build at a level I couldn't before.
I'm not coding despite being CEO of YC. I'm coding because this is the most important technological shift since the internet and I'd be an idiot to experience it from the bleachers.
I'm 45, running the most important startup institution in the world, and I can ship production software at 2am. That's not a distraction from the job.
That is the job understood correctly.
Should Alex Scott be getting even more hype? Genuinely one of the best young midfielders in the league right now

Insightful from @Jon_Mackenzie on pressing. Distinguishing between players who are 1) good at the pressing motion and 2) good at winning duels. Mason Mount has both qualities and is why Man Utd’s pressing is so much better when he’s leading it.

Prompt: “Beautiful, snowy Tokyo city is bustling. The camera moves through the bustling city street, following several people enjoying the beautiful snowy weather and shopping at nearby stalls. Gorgeous sakura petals are flying through the wind along with snowflakes.”
There were about 62,900 reported layoffs across MSFT, GOOGL, AMZN, and META last year (https://t.co/UdEtR3BdJt). This means each laid off tech worker added $46M in market cap. Not all layoffs are equal…
Seven stocks (Amazon, Apple, Alphabet, Meta, Microsoft, Nvidia, Tesla) added $5.1 trillion to their market cap in 2023, accounting for about 55% of the $9.2 trillion added during the year by all 6658 US firms. https://t.co/iqd3GqHy5o
Great thread on the Vision Pro. I find it hard to see this version of VR goggles getting to mass adoption. These are great for entertainment and gaming. But for everyday use and deep integration into work and life, I don’t think it will be something worn over the face
It sounds absurd to tweet it, but the FTC really is suing an American company for eliminating competition while a Chinese company is eating their lunch.
